Just a quick question.

When you have a caster level requirement for a crafting feat or the alchemy skill, does the caster level have to come from classes, or is it sufficient to have a spell-like ability?

I would rule that you need to have an actual ability to cast spells. There are many ways to get a high 'caster level' that does not satisfy the requirements for pre-reqs.

You mean like the requirement that you need to be caster-level 9 to create a +3 weapon? I don't see any way a spell-like ability could help with that.

If an item just had a caster level of it's own, and a spell prereq that you could meet via a spell like ability, then I think you could create it no problem. Like, a third level caster with fly as an SLA could make winged boots. AFAIK.
