| Dalthbar08-10-07, 01:21 PM | You don't need to "find" them per se - just make a list of all the things people make - those are your craft skills. Then make a list of all the jobs people have (that aren't craftsmen) and those are all your profession skills. That's about it. |
| UnrelentingHoror08-11-07, 06:23 AM | Also feel free to think outside the box abit. For example D20 modern has a Craft:Writeing skill where your basically able to put together novels and stuff. Or maybe write a text on something you have a knowledge skill for. it would make a great flavour skill for a research oriented character. For proffessions just think of anything someone could make money doing, the more ranks the higher the skill they have. Bodyguard, barber, Barrister(lawyer), escort(prostitute), Chef, book keeper, heck even Rat Catcher would be great.... Yes I can see it now, as a second level thief Gary the ratcatcher encounters a DireRat! this will truly be a test of his trade! *epic battle ensues* :duel: :cheer: |
| Malruhn08-11-07, 02:47 PM | It is the use of "stupid" additions like profession that make for some great characters and the possibility of great adventuring like Gary the ratcatcher. I get into more arguments about people avoiding profession and craft than anything else... and it bothers me. The use of Profession: ratcatcher 2, WAAAaaayyyy back when Gary was a first level thief just might be a plot hook when Gary is 20th level and trying to steal a bauble from Tim the Enchanter - who just happens to have a rat familiar... Constanzza, use the rule of: If it is made, the maker is using a craft skill. If it takes more than one craft skill to do it, it is probably a profession. |
| KrisTheGreat08-14-07, 10:15 PM | unfortunately profession is one of those skill that is not really used by players because there is no concreate benifit to taking it when one can never have enough skill points. When a player crafts a sword at least he has a benifit the sword he made |
