| Andrewman06-19-07, 10:09 PM | I have a quick question about cross class skills (obviously) Now if the way skill points work, you can have +3 over your level, so at level 1 you can have 4 skill ranks in a skill. For a cross class skill you can have 1 over your level, so 2 at level 1, 3 at level 2, so on and so on. My question is if I were to multiclass, say from a fighter into a rogue or ranger, and wanted to take Spot and Listen which would be a new class skill, would I be able to get them to +3 over my total level, or just class level of the class skill they're for? |

The skill becomes a class skill, therefore its maximum ranks becomes character level +3 (in this case, 5). However, you still spend your skill points as the class you just levelled in. For example, in this case, any rogue skills you pay 1:1, up to a maximum of 5; if you're increasing a fighter skill that isn't on the rogue list also, it's 2 points to raise it. |

Your maximum ranks in a cross class skill is 1/2 the maximum ranks you can have in a class skill. So you add the +3 to your level and divide by 2. This would give you 2 at 1st level, 2 1/2 at 2nd level, 3 at 3rd level, etc. |

You spend the points for each level as that class only, but the maximum limit for ranks is always the higher one, as long as it is a class skill for at least one of your classes. |
