| thisismyrealname09-24-07, 01:52 PM | Is there a feat or feat chain that would make it so I would be able to get an attack of opportunity when ever an opponent cast a spell, even if they have defensive casting. |
| Mojo_Rat09-24-07, 02:29 PM | the feat is called mageslayer. there 3 feats in the chain but i cannot remember the names of the other two. They are in either complete mage or complete arcane. |
| j3st3r09-24-07, 02:49 PM | They are indeed in Complete Arcane; Mage Slayer, Pierce Magical Concealment, Pierce Magical Protection. Mind you, you also need Blind-Fight to take Pierce Magical Concealment. |

Mageslayer denies defensive casting. But nothing give attack of oppirtunity from any casting. Quickened spells will always be free of attack of opportunities. No feat changes that. |
| Bob Loblaw09-24-07, 03:29 PM | Dragon Magazine 340 has a feat called Occult Opportunist. It allows you to make an attack of opportunity against an opponent you threaten who dismisses a spell, directs or redirects an active spell, casts a quickened or swift spell, or attempts to turn or rebuke undead. |
| PhaedrusXY09-24-07, 03:43 PM | Spellcasting Harrier is an epic feat that makes the Concentration DC higher. It is sorely in need of an upgrade since Mageslayer came out, though. I made up a non-epic homebrew version of Spellcasting Harrier that combines aspects of each and replaces them both in games that I run. Edit: Oh.... looks like they did update it. Here is the new version from the SRD, which does exactly what you're wanting: Spellcasting Harrier [Epic] Prerequisite Combat Reflexes. Benefit Any spellcaster you threaten in melee provokes an attack of opportunity if he or she tries to cast defensively. You get a +4 bonus on this attack roll. Here is the home-brewed version that I made up some time ago: Spellcasting Harrier [General, Fighter Bonus] (Slightly modified from the Epic Level Handbook version. It is NOT an Epic feat.) Prereq: Combat Reflexes, Spellcraft 3 ranks Benefit: Due to your special anti-spellcaster training, anyone casting defensively within an area you threaten takes a penalty equal to your Base Attack Bonus on the DC of their Concentration checks. (This is signifigantly stronger than the Epic Level Handbook version. Let me know what you think of it.)The 3.0 Epic version only gave them a penalty equal to half the one I'm giving them on this. Then Mage Slayer came along. Power Creep, anyone? |
| Kouk09-24-07, 08:09 PM | I'm not sure how valid it is to declare a power creep between rule versions... |
