Ok, so pg. 80 of Complete Divine has a feat called 'Discuple of the Sun'. Disciple of the sun requires any good alignment and the ability to turn or rebuke undead. The feat allows you to spend two turn attempts to destroy any undead that you would normally turn.

I was wondering if it would be too unreasonable to either use this feat, or make a new one, say 'Disciple of Undeath', to spend two rebuke attempts to command any undead that you would normally rebuke? The only requirement change would be any evil alignment instead of any good. Given that the requirements allow for rebuking, it begs the question.

Sounds reasonable to me.

And, uh, just call it Disciple of the Moon.

@OP
Shadows at 2nd-5th level instead of 8th. Bad, just bad. With that kind of power I could solo 5+ encounters of my CR a day, easily. And raise a goodly fraction of them to add to my army.

If your trying to come up with something for a low level BBEG it's great. If your giving this to a PC your asking for trouble.

For game balance purposes, it's sick all around. For speculation, however, I would argue that the 'good guys' gain this same level of potency when they take 'Disciple of the Sun' and come after the 'bad guy', be they pc or npc.

For turning or rebuking, the feat is gross. The main idea is that if you death knell your way up to a high enough caster level, you could command almost anything you could make. Sounds really bad. We'll say a Dread Necromancer with a feat like this at level 14 could be only four castings of death knell away from having a mohrg at his disposal. However, a level 14 cleric with a phylactery of undead turning, a 12 Cha, and 5 ranks in knowledge (religion), and of course the Disciple of the Sun feat, could roll a 1 on his turn check, and minimum on turn damage, and *poof*, no more morhg.

This is all assuming that multiple castings of death knell continue to stack on caster level, I'm not sure if that's the case, however. Some clarity there would be appreciated as well.

Regardless, after writing that out, I almost think that a rebuke version of Disciple of the Sun is needed, just to balance things out.
