| Salla07-03-07, 01:07 AM | See the Disguise skill in the PHB for information on disguising a creature as a member of another race. |
| Calabozo07-03-07, 01:34 AM | mmmmm... ok... I know that... the problem is, it seems ilogical to disguise a warforged as a human since it doesnt even have flesh and in the eberron CS doesnt say anithing about it, my quesition wasnt how do you use the disguise skill to disguise one race as another, it was IS it posible to disguise a WARFORGED as another race? because I cant find a specific rule that says it is or it isnt, and I belive at least it should be more dificult to do it if not impossible. |

Read the Warforged entry in the ECS, then the Disguise skill. Nothing in either source gives any indication that you cannot disguise a Warforged as another race, therefore you can. For all things warforged, the rule is: Unless a specific exception is called out, they operate like every other PC race. |
| penchant07-03-07, 07:00 AM | I think what you're saying is, "I know that technically the rules say that a warforged has no more difficulty being disguised as another race as any other race does, but it just doesn't make sense." ... welcome to D&D 3.5. Its about the rules, not what makes logical sense. That's what house rules are for. |
| tarkin07-03-07, 10:45 AM | Let me get this straight. You think it is easier for a 3ft halfling to pretend to be a 5ft dwarf than a Warforged to look like a Half-Orc? Bullcrap. You are just underestimating how different the OTHER races are from each other. There is nothing bad with this ruling except in your head. Warforged in Platemail = human disguise. |
| Dog_As_A_Devil_Deified07-03-07, 11:14 AM | Let me get this straight. You think it is easier for a 3ft halfling to pretend to be a 5ft dwarf than a Warforged to look like a Half-Orc? Bullcrap. You are just underestimating how different the OTHER races are from each other. There is nothing bad with this ruling except in your head. I see his point (and am not so sure I see why you've copped an attitude with him). Short of encasing the thing in living flesh à la the terminator, I can see why it would be harder to make the big metal robot look humanoid than it would be to make a halfling look taller and broader. Some lifts, some bulky clothing and a bit helmet might be in order for the halfling...but it will probably take a bit more than some face powder to get the warforged looking human. Besides, you ignore the obvious point, how do you make a 7' tall warforged look like a halfling? (The rules suggest this is no harder than making the halfling look like a dwarf. Under the rules as written, it appears that dressing the Tarrasque up like a pixie only imposes a -2 to the disguise check.) Even assuming that's possible, you have to hide his size *and* his metallic exoskeleton *and* his decidedly non-humanoid eyes whereas doing the same trick with a human requires only hiding his size. The human's eyes and skin are already roughly similar is shape, texture and other qualities to that of the other humanoid races. To me that suggests that it's harder to dress a construct up as a humanoid than a humanoid as a different humanoid. |
| foxtail07-03-07, 11:19 AM | Toss on a circumstance penalty to the disguise check and the problem's solved. It's not listed in the PHB, but I think an additional -2 for trying to disguise a creature's type (living construct to humanoid) is reasonable. Don't know why everyone's getting worked up about it. Edit: Oh, the epic level rules have modifiers for changing one's height beyond +/- 10%with a Disguise check, and they ain't pretty (-25 at the least). So all the talk about halflings to dwarves is kinda moot. |

If you want to apply a greater-than-normal penalty for being of a different Type or just plain being a Warforged, fine. Keep in mind that the Disguise skill assumes access to a disguise kit with makeup, prosthetics, clothing, etc. |
| ArcTan07-03-07, 03:58 PM | Read the Warforged entry in the ECS, then the Disguise skill. For all things warforged, the rule is: Unless a specific exception is called out, they operate like every other PC race. Many things Warforged stretch common sense and suspension of disbelief if you slavishly follow this rule, which is what houserules exist for. |
| Robotic_Christmass_Elf07-03-07, 11:44 PM | Actually, I seem to remember that since Warforged don't technically have a gender, they're at an extra -2 (since it's -2 to disguise yourself as a different gender). So yes, they're at -4 to disguise themselves as an appropriate size human or half-orc, that's all by the normal rules. I don't personally feel that there's a need for any more than that (I mean Cloak, gloves, wig & a beard, plus some face paint, now you're a 6'6 half-orc, you might not look like a 'forged, but you still kinda stand out) although obviously you're free to house rule otherwise. |
| Jaxgaret07-04-07, 01:12 AM | 'Forged probably try to pass themselves off as Green Star Adepts a lot. Or Half-Metallic Dragons. Or anything else along those lines. |
| Ashen_Child07-04-07, 07:23 AM | And remember the size rule (20% was it?) |
| Someone07-04-07, 12:55 PM | Warforged in Platemail = human disguise. That's not platemail, that's a warforged in disguise! *catchy jingle* Transmuters! Warforged in disguise! Transmuters! More than meets the Spot check! Alright, alright, I'm done. |
