A friend of mine buyed the Fiendish Codex 2 and he saw the Divine Justice Feat. It lets you spend a turn or rebuke action to counter as an immediate action a spell or spell-like ability (You must have a dispell magic prepared.) Both me and my friend feel that the feat is a bit overpowered. He had took it and he keeps stopping the most powerful spells of all the enemy mages. We think that we could rule that it could only counter spell like abilities, (since it is in a book about fiends, it should be used against fiends and so). I would like to hear more opinions though. Any suggestions?

Is it a dispel magic check or inatant.

Because if you ready an action to cast dispel when enemies cast spells it works exactly the same if so. After you ready, it is not even a action.

However, yiu can't counter spell-like normally.

Check out heroes of battle. Battlemage perception. 10 mins/level +5 bonus on spellcraft to identify spells, plus other bonuses. To top it all off, you can counterspell as a free action, but doing so ends the spell.

It's a 3rd level cleric/wizard/sorcerer spell. Ya, that was annoying when that player kept using it, but it never seemed game breaking.

So short answer now long, I don't think Divine justice is broken.

1. Divine Defiance. It's not Divine Justice.
2. This allows you to counter a spell or a spell-like ability as an immediate action, by expending 1 turn/rebuke undead attempt.
3. You can counter with the same spell or with Dispel Magic.
4. While it's a really good feat, it does not get out of hand, mainly because clerics don't have enough Turn attempts after using Divine Metamagic(persistent spell).
