Do Good, Evil Subtype Outsiders die if they use Words of Creation? [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-14-07, 10:56 PM Ok. Let’s say there is an unusual Outsider with the Evil Alignment Subtype, who is Good Aligned. He has the Words of Creation Feat from the Book of Exalted Deeds. He uses it. Does he count as an Evil being? Cause if he does, he’s dead. Just curious, as I’m debating playing such a character in the future.

07-14-07, 11:10 PM Creatures with alignment subtypes that have a different alignment from the actual subtype suffer as both alignments (the subtype and the actual one). So yes, he would die if he read from the Book of Exalted Deeds. He would also, however, gain the bonus from it as if he were a good creature.

I just reread the Feat entry, and the entry about evil beings being struck dead only happens if they don't have the Feat. (It is listed under "Normal," as in what happens to PC's and NPC's who don't have the Feat, so apparently evil characters can have and use it.)

I guess my dream of having a character with both Dark Speech and Words of Creation is possible. :D
