Just like the title says, if I am playing a werebear, do I need to take Improved Unarmed Strike as a prerequisite for Improved Grapple, or does having natural attacks qualify?

I would rule that you would need to take improved unarmed strike to get improved grapple.

Keep in mind though, if you're in hybrid or bear form, you get improved grab, so not provoking an attack of opportunity isn't an issue for you in 2/3 of your forms.

Although the improved grapple gives you +4 to grapple checks, since that's a huge bonus I'd make you take the improved unarmed strike feat beforehand.

I rule that Improved Grab lets you qualify for Improved Grapple, but not just any natural weapon. There's a couple monsters in the MM that seem to work that way anyway.

Note that there are a few monsters in MM which have improved grapple feat, even though they lack the IUS feat.

Barbed devil is one of them. That is all I can recall at the moment.
