| PEXE10-04-07, 09:03 AM | Hi guys! I´m trying to remember the name and where is a feat that a saw some time ago... It´s a feat for divine spellcasters that allows a cleric to play with a alignment two steps away of his deity. I think its also allows you to select a domain that its not in the regular domains of the deity. At last i guess that this feat also change something about the deity´s favored weapon... Thanks. |
| The_Wrath_of_Talos10-04-07, 05:01 PM | So why choose that deity at all? |
| Salla10-04-07, 06:10 PM | So why choose that deity at all? Pretty much what I was thinking. Just go Cleric of a Cause. |
| 1 ton ghost10-05-07, 12:50 PM | Heretic of the Faith i believe (Powers of Faerun). nice way to explain a villain or anti-hero when you don't quite see eye to eye w/ ethos or current schema of church. the Martin Luther of Greyhawk/Faerun/Eberron... |

Eberron clerics already don't have to match any alignment components to their deity of choice, so that part of it would be wasted. :) |

| 1 ton ghost10-06-07, 02:24 PM | Emphasis and edit mine. and your point? want a medal, gold star, extra credit? context is more important than wordplay i assure you. i thought it more relevant given the current political/religous climate. you are familiar w/ separation of church and state yes? rhetorical... the middle ages are gone in terms of western civ., most judeo-xian faiths have some clout politically, but are under such scrutiny these days (in my country anyway), they are pretty much hamstrung and demonized from a few isolated incidents of an individual(s), not God/Jaweh/Allah/Buddah. said higher power(s) never gave a press release or edict and yet it's terribly fashionable to attack the churches of faith 'x' 'y' and 'z'. |

This is the wrong message board to be talking about such things. Why don't you try this message board (http://www.billoreilly.com/messageboards), it seems like your kind of place. |
| Radijs10-06-07, 06:11 PM | I think religious & political debate is not a part of the skills & feats forum. So I won't enter the history books about what the diffrent religious sects have done over the course of history. What I *want* is for people not to generalize all followers of the Islam because thats just plain stupid. |

So I won't enter the history books about what the diffrent religious sects have done over the course of history. What I *want* is for people not to generalize all followers of the Islam because thats just plain stupid. i didn't, you did in your retort. i stipulated fascists that claim islam as their faith not the entirety of the faith. that is "stupid" and it's not solely a muslim condition. i'm not slandering islam's good name, just a facet that manipulates religion for political motivations. like the Inquisition, xian coaliltion, or whatever hot topic is out. this is relevant, thought it applicable and didn't want to placate any drones though i will apologize as this is in bad form, i simply thought an explanation in order rather than the ironically pseudo-fascist recommended censoring. but it's their board, can do as they please. so be it. sorry to everyone else. no disrespect as i can see many are nervous and/or uncomfortable. as for the OP/game aspect: i was drawing an allusion to 2 current topics, a game concept of all the damned things and how it mirrors a contemporary issue of late. reactionary tirades from an example that clearly wasn't a pot shot say more about the reaction than the example i think... what i was driving at before the sensitivity committee convened was Eberron clerics can tarnish an otherwise perfectly normal faith under sketchy conditions given the alignment discrepancy. that is, you are not accountable to the god's alignment in much the same way religious whackjobs murder, extort, etc. which are pretty much universal sins in all major religions. sound familiar? david koresh, inquisition, witch burnings. look, none muslim examples! omg! call ripley's. |
| Jaxgaret10-07-07, 04:06 AM | no disrespect as i can see many are nervous and/or uncomfortable. This is simply not the place for it. It's against the board CoC. It only starts flame wars. what i was driving at before the sensitivity committee convened Actually, you were the one being "sensitive" to being "attacked", which no one here did. You are the one who brought it up. Not us. Here's the quote: most judeo-xian faiths have some clout politically, but are under such scrutiny these days (in my country anyway), they are pretty much hamstrung and demonized from a few isolated incidents of an individual(s), not God/Jaweh/Allah/Buddah. said higher power(s) never gave a press release or edict and yet it's terribly fashionable to attack the churches of faith 'x' 'y' and 'z'. On to the actual thread discussion - Eberron clerics can tarnish an otherwise perfectly normal faith under sketchy conditions given the alignment discrepancy. that is, you are not accountable to the god's alignment in much the same way religious whackjobs murder, extort, etc. which are pretty much universal sins in all major religions. Right. Sounds like Eberron retains an element of realism here, as it attempts to do in most cases and IMO succeeds fairly well. What's wrong with that? |
| 1 ton ghost10-07-07, 01:37 PM | i will apologize on the grounds of prempting a flame as you so carefully illustrated. no one wants that to which we are in agreement. i think you are misinterpreting what was said for whatever reasons you have, though citing your platform might lend more credibility, just a thought. mine was only to add clairty to a game concept, not inflame whatever socio-political ideology you hold dear, or not dear... the previously cited example wasn't pro/anti-religion, merely an example as clearly stated time and again. taking it out of context and instigating isn't helping but if you want to feel morally justified at least explain your position rather than quoting and requoting someone else's though your own lens. implication isn't the same as fact as 1,000 gamers will tell you given RAI vs. RAW. how is this different? you are not helping a beleaugered stereotype btw. as for Eberron, once again you have misinterpreted. i never said there was anything wrong w/ it. try and understand when your deity, not unlike the major ones here on planet earth, espouses fairly goodly/karmic principles and you pervert them to rape, kill, and rob, that, most assuredly, isn't goodly in alignment. that is my premise. this example was hijacked and perverted in much the same way, and for what really? contribute, don't condemn. i actually play and own many Eberron texts. i was impressed the design broke w/ standard divine pricinciples in terms of align, to which i use this concept frequently as it makes DMing easier for me in many regards. if anything i support it as diversity in and out of game is good. i like the option to feel, act, and worship as i wish as a cleric...or on a tired board. |
