I'm sure I have read several times that if I use Knockback to knock someone back on my attack of opportunity, that the foe's movement is then ended.

However, there is nothing in the knockback or bullrush rules that state this though. Is there an faq on this?

bull rush is not an action that can be performed through an AoO so you will have to house rule it.

If the opponent lands prone, then their movement is over, as crawling 5 feet is a full-round action. The only core book maneuver that pushes and knocks opponents prone is an overrun, which can't be done when it's not your turn barring some wacky combination of spells/maneuvers/readied actions/DM fiat.

Or you could trip the guy with a Brutal Surge weapon... that would be fun to watch.

Taren, the Knoickback feat triggers a bull rush when hitting a foe whle using Power Attack. Thus it is possible to get a Bull Rush when not your turn.

OrcLord, bull rush doesn't leave the opponent prone, and doesn't say anythign about stopping movement, so no, they can still move.

and it is a standard action that the knockback feat allows to function as a special manuever, with certain restrictions. the bullrush action does not have any provisions for being used in this manner. example:
enemy moves 10' provokes an AoO due to reach and is knocked back 20'
he's already performed a move action and so can't continue with his move action....or can he? he's moved a total of 30' his standard movment...is it free? if it is then there is alot of abuse to be had, but that's beside the point.

I don't believe that you count the "knocked back distance" against the foe's movement.

example: a foe with 30' of movement moves within 10' of my large spiked chain wielding half-ogre. I roll well and knock him out of my radius -- knocking hm back 10'. The foe now has 20' of movement left and he may now continue moving and will not provoke an AoO during the same movement action.

Also, on a side note -- I have the Improved Trip feat. Once I execute the trip, then I apply the knockback effect. I view this as basically occurring at once -- sweeping the foe's legs and letting the momentum throw him backwards.

Is this possible though? Once he is tripped, he is prone. I don't see anything under bullrush / prone rules that indicates that you can not bullrush a prone opponent.

your interpretation on tripping is logical, and the same way that my group would rule it. trip and golf swing!

And that produces a beautiful image. I think I need to make a character that does that.

If knockback is combined with Dungeon Crasher from Dungeonscape and you manage to put him into a wall with your bull rush then he would be prone and his movement would end.

Unfortunately my build was too feat heavy and I couldn't do Dungeon Crasher. With that variant though, add in Shocktrooper as well and it's even better -- as is giving him wings & Hover feat with Dragonborn. (If he's flying above his enemies, then Dungeon Crasher applies as well by pounding them into the ground).

add in cometary collision from PHB2, and you get one hell of a karmic backlash against charging foes aiming for your casters!
