Can you make use of both of these feats together and make two wandstrikes as a full-round action, burning a second charge on the second wand in the process? The description of wandstrike says you MAY activate the wand... can you NOT activate the wand when you attack with the wand? For that matter, can you Full-Round with wandstrikes (Provided you only activate the wands once each)? Wandstrike says you burn a charge to strike with it- do you need to burn a second charge to activate the wand or is it part of the wandstrike? |

Can you make use of both of these feats together and make two wandstrikes as a full-round action, burning a second charge on the second wand in the process? . . . For that matter, can you Full-Round with wandstrikes (Provided you only activate the wands once each)? Using Wandstrike requires a standard action, not a melee attack. Thus you can only use wandstrike once in a round, unless you have some way to make extra Standard Actions. (Not just extra attacks.) The description of wandstrike says you MAY activate the wand... can you NOT activate the wand when you attack with the wand? The wording is not specific, but since you cannot use wandstrike with a wand that you cannot activate as part of the strike, I would rule that activating the wand is part of the Wandstrike. It could be argued the otherway as well though. Wandstrike says you burn a charge to strike with it- do you need to burn a second charge to activate the wand or is it part of the wandstrike? Again, the text could be clearer, but I would rule that the charge you burn when making the wandstrike is the one that activates the wand. |

Note wand stike just let you attack with the wand and then activate it. So it would work on attacks and I believe you have to have TWF for the other which would give you a 2nd attack from wand strick as a off handed attack for 2 charges and then activate it |

Double-Wand User allow you to use two wands as a Full-Round action, instead of one as a Standard Action. I would say with both feats, you could make a Wandstrike with a wand in each hand, and one of these would use 2 charges... |

| DamonJynx06-04-08, 10:44 PM | Does anyone have any thoughts on what happens with Wandstrike if the melee touch attack is a critical? Do you double the spell damage? or is it treated as additional damage similar to the flaming weapon property? My opinion is that it should be treated as additional damage and therefore not doubled, as the feat says " but you can activate the spell..." - it doesn' say you have too - but I'm looking at it from a DM's point of view. I know most players would argue that the damage is doubled. The feat could have been written a lot better, i.e. " As a single attack action spend an extra charge of the wand to deliver your spell as a melee touch attack. On a successful attack add 1d6 to your spells normal damage. You do not get extra damage from other sources such as sneak attack, smite etc." Written like this there is little room for discussion. |
| Talisman06-04-08, 11:11 PM | Since it's a damage effect that requires an attack roll a natural 20 is a critical threat and it deals double damage if it confirms. The Wandstrike damage is automatically doubled to 2d6. However, IMO, the spell damage depends on whether the spell normally requires an attack roll. Thus, you could critical with a wand of scorching ray but not with a wand of magic missile or a wand of fireball, since neither of these spells allow/require an attack roll. The description of the Wandstrike feat supports this interpretation, since area effect spells still go off normally - Wandstrike with a wand of fireballs and you'd better have fire resistance, since you're standing at the center of a fireball. This would, of course, allow a Reflex save and not an atatck roll. |
