Double Wand Wielder at earlier levels? [Archive] - Wizards Community

I'm looking to build an archer around the Double Wand Wielder feat in as few levels as I can. So, to that end, how can I go about qualifying for that feat by 5th or 6th level, instead of having to wait until 9th? The prerequisites are Craft Wand and Two Weapon Fighting. Since Craft Wand's prerequisite is caster level 5th, it seems it can only be taken at 5th level or later, but because it's a [General] feat, it seems like it needs to be taken at 6th level.

The only exception I know of to these assumptions is the Wizard's first bonus feat slot at 5th level. The trouble there is that for this build I'm going to need some way to pick up Hunter's Mercy and True Strike, while it seems the former is only available to 4th level Rangers. With 5 levels of Wizard and 4 of Ranger, the build doesn't come together until 9th level, and I would really like to pull it together by 6th.

Does anyone have any brilliant ideas? I've considered ways to boost one's caster level above one's hitdice, thereby allowing me to qualify for Craft Wand by 3rd level, but the only ones I've found apply very specifically to individual spells or groups of spells.

An Archivist can gain access to Hunter's Mercy at 1st level. So you could go Wiz5/Arc1.

Alternatively, there is the Wild Defender from Dragon 324 that gains access to Ranger spells at level 1, or the Mystic Ranger from Dragon 336 that gains access to 1st level Ranger spells at level 2.

Wow, that's... that's just excellent. All I need to do is get access to Heroes of Horror, look over the Archivist, and see what I can see. I'd love to make this a viable build from 1st level upward, and keeping the multiclassing to a minimum would help greatly in that regard!

Thanks, Jax. Where do you find these pieces of info from Dragon? Is there a search function on wotc's website of which I'm unaware?

Now, if I wanted to avoid levels in Wizard altogether, preferring classes with more archery prowess, how could I get Craft Wand as a bonus feat at 5th level? Barring that, how could I make a Wizard into a decent archer from levels 1 through 5?

If you're allowed Eberron, try Articifer/DMH/Cannith Wand Adept.

pftt. wizard/incantatrix if you want to be a dual wand wielder.

burning through wands after 4 shots is fun.
