05-31-07, 01:11 PM I'm a 12th level wizard and I've taken the Dragon Familiar feat. I've selected the wyrmling silver dragon and am looking for ways to really have fun with this NPC.

I'm posting this to try to welcome as many fun ideas on playing, buffing, using this familiar to the best benefit.

1 - What items might be good to make for the familiar to have?
2 - Is it possible to make some sort of armor for a wyrmling?
3 - What is the best way to play it?

Keep in mind a silver wyrmling can use alternate form so it can change into humanoids or animals (from what I interpreted).

It won't net you twice as many answers, it will only net you the same answers twice.

The "Magic and Spells" section is a better fit for this question, so all answers should be made there (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=857219).

05-31-07, 01:34 PM Take spellbonded familiar I forget which book its in might be phb2 which lets your familiar share spells with you up to 30 feet away rather then 5 feet.

Also the feat which lets you imbue your familiar with lower lvl spells is decent.

Extend spell is great for uping the duration on buff spells.

If this is a longterm campaign where the dragon risks leaving you do to it increasing Age Cat consider taking Leadership and choosing the dragon as a cohort and picking up another wyrmling to fill your familiar slot.

As far as spells go (I strongly recomend taking the first feat I mentioned)

Any Bite of the Were.... spell and share it. (spell comp)
Combust (spell comp)
Imbue familiar with spell ability (spell comp) <---my favorite spell
Greater mage armor (SC)
Lesser Dragonshape (Dragon Magic)
Dragonshape (phb2)
The reusable breath weapon spell from SC (forget the name)
Tenser and Nightstalkers transformation.
Shape of the warforged titan
Antimagic Field (double edged but great against a harsh caster encounter)
There is a spell in complete mage I think that as a swift action teleports your familiar to you or vice versa.
