As my sig will tell you i am playing a Dread Necro (and loving it) but anyway my plan was to take the corpsecrafter set of feats...

Does anyone think that this is just a terrible idea and that i should die for even thinking it?

And if so plz let me know of some alt. feats to take.

This thread (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=759515) will have the answers to all of that, and questions you never even thought of asking. :)

StruckingFuggle gave you a real gem with that handbook.

I do have to agree with the conclusions in that handbook. Corpsecrafter itself is nice, but it only partially stacks with your class ability (Undead Mastery). The only other one that does much good is Destruction Retribution.

If you have your heart set on Hardened Flesh, remember that you can get the same effect by buying suits of leather armor for your undead for 10 gp a pop. Even though they're not proficient, they'll take a -0 penalty on their attacks, so it doesn't really matter.

Also, when creating undead, as a genral rule, you'll be better off animating a few more powerful creatures as opposed to a hoard of smaller ones. By the time you get Animate Dead, you shouldn't be wasting your time on human skeletons and zombies unless that's the only thing available.

I play dread necros all the time but that handbook just confuses me. Why would you want to play like that? Legalistic tripe it is, as flavourful as a wonderous spoon.

Corpsecrafter doesn't stack with undead mastery, at least not the +4 str part, but you are still left with +4 str/dex/hp/hd, which isn't bad if you ask me. Animate them with deadwalkers ring, or desecrated area with shrine to get average of 12.5hp/level. Hardened Flesh gives +2 natural armour, which stacks with normal natural armour (and if it doesn't, then it should). So you can buy leather armour with it too.

I did a list of homebrew corpsecrafter feats with Kerik, it may be around here somewhere, if you're interested, otherwise, you might try nimble bones for skeletons with +11 init, or icy chill on embalmed (it's alchemy in libris mortis)zombies.

(for the benefit of those who don't own the dmg, a wonderous spoon refers to a magical meal of warm cardboard)

Would you care to elaborate on that point?

And do you mean it comes with no flavor, or that it somehow magically prohibits you from doing your player-prestidigitation to make it flavored basically however you want?
