| johnboy06903-23-07, 09:57 AM | I love the Shapeshift variant for the druid in PHB2. That being said, I have a few questions. Does having the variant count as having wild shape for wild feats and PRCS? The second question is what could I take away from the Ranger or Hexblade to give them this ability? Would removing the Ranger's spellcasting be an even trade? What about the hexblade? I like the curse ability, so I do not want to lose that. I am not really into optimization that much, I want it more for the flavor aspect for a sect in my campaign world. I apologize if this is in the wrong place. Thanks in advance. :D |

| Dark1ord03-25-07, 03:27 PM | you might wanna check out this thread on shapeshift: http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=650144 as for what to remove from ranger/hexblade, well... both would get quite the power boost from shapeshift. so probably lose pretty major things. but that really depends on what you most want to keep. ;) |
| MerlintheTuna03-25-07, 03:33 PM | Rules have been presented (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/variantCharacterClasses.htm#ranger) (originally in Unearthed Arcana) for giving the Ranger limited Wild Shape abilities. That should be a pretty good start as far as giving him Shapeshift goes. |
| johnboy06903-26-07, 01:09 PM | Thanks guys. I was originally wanting to give them the ability to use the woodland avenger form (I think that is the wolf, panther form,etc.). Would removing the Hexblade's bonus feat list and his mettle ability be an even trade? I would really like to keep the curse ability, as it is one of my favorite class features of all time. I have changed it to be usable 1x per day +CHA modifier. As far as the ranger goes, I totally forgot the part in Unearthed Arcana so thanks for the heads up. The idea of this is that of a cell of elite huntsmen and druids that stop the encroachment of civilization, using more subtle methods rather than big flashy fireballs. |
