Hi there,

The Druid wildshaping ability, which mimics polymorph does not allow the druid to have the Special Qualities of that animal while in animal form (such as scent, low-light vision, etc.) It seems to me that lack of these abilities hamper the roleplayability of the wildshaping (and the versatility of the ability).

Does anyone have a good explanation as to why a Druid doesn't get these abilities when turned into an animal?

Also, is anybody out there aware of any alternate class that allows a druid to gain these special qualities while in animal form? Or have any suggestions to alter the class to allow them?

Thanks for any suggestions or help.

Spell Compendium: Enhance Wildshape
Nets you the extraordinary qualities.
Otherwise there is Master of Many Forms,
sorry, but I'm not very familiar with the class.

My question on wildshape for the moment are the attacks:
For example:
Brown Bear, BAB +4, full attack: 2 claws, 1 bite

A druid with a 6/1 BAB, does he just get (2 claws), (2 claws and 1 bite )or (2 claws, 1 bite, 2 claws, 1 bite)?

Some thematics of roleplaying are indeed plain weird when it gets to Wildshaping.

The PHB3.5 errata has revised wildshape to reference alternate form instead of polymorph instead. Don't think it resolves this problem though.

A druid with a 6/1 BAB, does he just get (2 claws), (2 claws and 1 bite )or (2 claws, 1 bite, 2 claws, 1 bite)?

Still 2 claws and 1 bite, since natural attacks never benefit from a high bab.

I fail to see how.

It is the definitive wildshaping PrC (for 3.5 anyway).

ya but master of many forms needs 7 levels in the prc to get the ex qualities

I find it a shame for the little things, e.g. Scent, LowLight / Dark Vision

Thanks Runestar for the info.

But isn't roleplaying only hampered by your own abilities? Explain it away yourself in the roleplaying.
