Is the DC 8 check to cast the 2nd level spell under the Precocious Apprentice feat a caster level check? If a duskblade takes this feat and gains a couple of levels [without gaining use of 2nd level spells yet], does he get an easier DC to cast the second level spell? He would if it were a caster level check. Just posting for anybody's opinions on this.

Yes, it is a caster level check.
No, a duskblade doesn't get an easier DC for the spellcaster check as he/she levels up, but his/her caster level does increase so it will be easier to succeed on the check. That's the same thing as for any other caster as well.

Funny thing, though, is that Precocious Apprentice gives you access to a spell from a school you know, not actually a spell on your spell list, meaning an arcane mage with access to the conjuration school (which they all have, as far as I can tell) can learn to cast Cure Moderate Wounds (until normal 2nd-level spells are available).

I disagree with your interpreation.

It says "school of magic you have access to."

You are focusing on the word school. I believe the word Access is the key word. Also the fluff text specifically says your master teaches it to you.

While yes, you can read it the way you want to, I would say that this is simply a case of WoTC not using the proper english, a very common practice. I

I would read the feat as only allowing spells your can eventaully learn following the class you currently have.

Totally bogus information. It must come from your spell list.
I must say, this is the first time I have ever had anyone come up with this interpretation.

As in all things in D&D (3.5 at least), you gain new spells that come from your spell list unless the ability explicitly makes note that the spell can come from any spell list (in other words the text "from any spell list" is absolutely required and not optional.)

To the OP, if you read the P.A. ability, I do believe it does say it is a caster level check. If so, your increased levels will help with the caster level check.
