| Wonton200612-22-07, 02:13 AM | Wow... something like third thread started in 5 minutes... First things first. I thought long about where to put this, and as special abilities like Darkvision are most closest to feats, i put it here. Sorry if it's not the right spot. So anyway, straight to the point. In the campaign I play in, one character is a Tiefling and therefore has Darkvision (60 ft) while the other is human. I know as a fact that this campaign will involve more sneaking than the usual one To quote the DM, "Inflitration, espionage, social maneuvering (heh. I find that funny as my character has 5 Charisma), and assassinations." For this reason I think it's a good idea that we be able to operate in the dark. So here comes the question: What is the easiest way out there to get darkvision ? |
| littlekid12-22-07, 03:25 AM | Goggles of Night The lenses of this item are made of dark crystal. Even though the lenses are opaque, when placed over the eyes of the wearer they enable him to see normally and also grant him 60-foot darkvision. Both lenses must be worn for the magic to be effective. Faint transmutation; CL 3rd; Craft Wondrous Item, darkvision; Price 12,000 gp. From the srd. http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/wondrousItems.htm |
| runestar12-22-07, 03:57 AM | There should be an abysmal heritor feat in fiendish codex 1 which grants darkvision, IIRC. |
| Fireclave12-22-07, 04:30 AM | Be a wizard/sorcerer and just cast Darkvision (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/darkvision.htm) on yourself. Casting it yourself is basically free and the spell lasts for hours. |
| Shadowfax712-22-07, 08:53 AM | Be a wizard/sorcerer and just cast Darkvision (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/darkvision.htm) on yourself. Casting it yourself is basically free and the spell lasts for hours. And then cast Permanency . . . or pay someone to. |
| BugHunter12-22-07, 12:08 PM | Take the draconic template it is a LA +1 but gives you darkvision, three stat boosts and natural armor. You could also buy the scout's headband (MIC page 132) it has charges per day. |
| 1 ton ghost12-22-07, 02:31 PM | -potion/scroll is most cost effective -employing Ebon Eyes (SplCmpd) works well, cheap -Goggles, pricey though -become a Necropolitan (you're human, right?), +1LA |
| Nexilis12-25-07, 03:32 PM | If you can, take a few levels in the Horizon Walker PrC. The req's are really easy, especially if you're a ranger. It offers some interesting skill boosts in the first few levels and one of the choices is to gain Darkvision 60', and if the game is as focused around espionage as you say the bonuses to spot, hide, MS and Listen won't hurt either. |
| Kelb_Havoc01-04-08, 02:15 AM | The easiest way I know of to get darkvision, is to be a half-orc. It's one of their racial abilities after all. |
| draco111901-04-08, 05:53 AM | Another option is to take a level in Ardent or Divine Mind from Complete Psionic and take the Light and Darkness mantle... |
