| ArenTrel10-01-07, 01:22 AM | I have decided to play a character that would eventually be involved with airships. But I am kinda confused about just how you control the elemental. In the Explorers Handbook it mentions that the Dragonmark of Storm allows the pilot to command the elemental without difficulty. So pretty much I was wondering just where it states this ability to control airships, since if possible I would not have my character without a Dragonmark. Thanks for anyone who can give me any information. |

There are no game mechanics for it, but those who have the mark have some kind of connection with the elemental that allows them to control the ship. Airships are expensive, and PC's are not really expected to buy one, and by the time they do get that much money they can probably pay someone to pilot it for them. If they search hard enough they can find someone who was kicked out of a Dragonmarked House. You should also take profession sailing or whatever your DM says would allow you to control the ship, because if there is a storm you will probably have to use your profession as a skill check to not crash. I would put ranks in survival to so you know where you are going. |

| FrostWolf10-01-07, 09:05 AM | Magic of Ebberon has feats for the making of items that need to bind elememtals. |
| Cifer10-01-07, 09:37 AM | Finally, the Explorer's Handbook has a prestige class that deals with steering elemental vessels (Windwright captain). You'll be needing a Mark of Storm for that, though. Oh, and I'd advise you to pose questions like this one on the Eberron boards. |
| Vharuck10-01-07, 11:16 AM | If you don't have the correct dragonmark, all elemental vessels are controlled by opposing Charisma checks between the captain and the elemental. I forget the exact mechanics, but it's just a battle of wills. |
