runestar 04-30-07, 01:10 PM	Technically, character lv means total HD only. I would houserule that it is based off ECL though.:)
tarkin 04-30-07, 02:04 PM	I use this rule. I find it works well on several levels. 1. When recruiting members of your own race, ignore ECl for both you and the cohort/followers. Two otherwise identical 10th level fighters one a Drow, another a human both take leadership. The human gets a 7th level human wizard as a cohort, the Drow gets a 7th level Drow wizard as a cohort. 2. When recruiting from other races, you get a +1 for having 'special powers', regardless of how much a level adjustment you have. -------------- This method provides some (minimal) support for taking creatures outside your race, but gives people huge support for getting a cohort of your own race, which in my opinion is realistic. People may like / be friendly with members of other races, but honestly people look up to and admire members of their own race far more often.

I'm playing a were-eagle so thats ECL +4 so my cohort would be nothing but a burden at lvl 4-5 when everyone else is lvl 10 with another characters cohort at 8. Just seems off to me.

Darknight303 05-02-07, 01:29 PM	forgot to say this earlier but my Dm probably wouldn't let me use your HR tarkin because in a "challenging" encounter I took all of 2 dmg when another character should have died (House rule for double critical for 44 dmg with 35 total health) and he was in the back with myself stemming the tide so to speak. Another character would also throw a fit because he's convinced my character is broken due to really 26 AC and the damage reduction 10/silver in hybrid/eagle forms while he completely ignores the fact that I hit for just about nothing (1d6+1) WHEN I hit (attack bonus of +5 when using flurry of blows with wep finesse) but ill ask
