| PiccaloJr04-19-07, 02:49 PM | Quick question to start this thread off: When creating a Diminutive Effigy what cost do you use for the body creation? My example is creating an Effigy Bat. The entry in the book reads: The cost to create is equal to the cost of the body plus 1,000 gp and 80 XP per Hit Dice, and creating the effigy creature requires a minimum caster level equal to the creature's Hit Dice. There is no cost listed for a Diminutive body so would it be: 1,000 gp / 4 (due to the 1/4th HD) = 250gp 80 xp /4 (same thing) = 20xp I'd be able to make it at level 1 (in theory). After which you just add in all the adjustments. This seem right? Also, I saw on another board that someone was adding templates like Half-Dragon and Feral to his Effigys before hand, in essence making the Effigy versions there of. My question is this, What is the pricing difference for those templates? Free? No way. |

It does say Base creature, which means the original so in a strict game this wouldn't be allowed but in a loose game maybe. this does allow many broken combinations. Why wouldn't you create a half dragon, half fiend, cave troll when the feat/class ability is based off of only HD? I find Effigies to be a silly idea anyway. There should be a basic mechanic that allows you to create a robot with specific abilities based on your level in the class. Making effigies based off of creatures is fine, but not their abilities. Hmm, I think I just came up with a new idea.... As for the dimin effigy, I'd say since the book has a specific chart you should stick to that. I would make a character do research into making modifications to this chart. |

You get a "Robot" companion that gets upgrades and HD as you level in the PrC. Making effigies based off of creatures is fine, but not their abilities. They do get to keep -some- of their abilities. Just not the good ones. If they have physical attack oriented feats and ablities, (Trample and the like), they keep those. They don't get all the other nifty stuff like regeneration, breath weapon, polymorph, etc. :( As for the dimin effigy, I'd say since the book has a specific chart you should stick to that. I would make a character do research into making modifications to this chart. Well the chart just shows the body pricing for tiny and up. The chart that shows slam attacks -does- show diminutive but they don't gain a slam attack. To add to your comments though, think of this at high levels. Create a dragon effigy. They get a lot of attacks per round and can make an excellent mount. Thanks for your input. ^_^ Much appreciated. |
