Epic Spell Slots and Reserve Feats [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-16-07, 06:43 PM With Epic feat Improved Spell Capacity you get 10th level and higher slots for your spellcaster. If he has the reserve feat fiery burst (or the cold feat or the electricity feat) can he use those higher spell slots to power the feat? That is, 10d6 or higher damage with fiery burst using heightened or stilled meteor swarm in 10th level slot, etc.

05-16-07, 07:03 PM 10th level spell slots are just slots. You must still know a spell with the right descriptor OF that level to use your reserve feat for that level. Ask your DM if improved heighten spell feat will help you or not.

05-16-07, 07:37 PM You couldn't do it with any of them except Heighten spell. Heighten Spell is the only (Well, only in the SRD, at least) that actually changes the level of the spell. So a burning hands heightened to 10th level will do it.

But seriously, if you're playing epic, a Wizard throwing 10d6 mini-fireballs all day long isn't really that big of a deal.
