Say you have a kineticist in your party, and they're using energy ball or any of the other energy area attack powers that offer the option to choose energy type. They're using the cold energy type (+1 dmg per die), and requires a fort save to avoid the damage. Does the Evasion class feature apply? It specifies "If subjected to an attack that allows a Reflex save for half damage, a character with evasion takes no damage on a successful save." in the RAW, but a lot of the stuff in the PHB doesn't consider the eleventy-billion supplements that have followed. Has Evasion been errata'd to included area spells that allow a save for half damage, or is it specific to reflex save only? Thanks. |

By the time you get to the level that the evasion people will be garunteed success, you're better off using save or dies. Also, there's mettle. It's better than evasion. If you make a save for some lesser effect on fort or will, the lesser effect doesn't happen. |

I suppose it's balanced for the psion class in how they have to pay to increase the power of their effects. Of course it's imbalanced. All psionics is horribly imbalanced. :P Jk. Yes, they can affect rogues with area affecting spells. I fail to see how this imbalances them? There are plenty of AoE spells with fort/will saves. |
