A friend of mine wanted me to make a character for him. Im currently looking at Bard 5/ Evangilist 5/ Pyrocineticst 10 (Evangilist=complete divine pyro=expanded psionics)

The character is probably giong to be Chaotic evil or Chaotic neutral, depending on god (Any suggestionss? Looking for a fire god in forgoten realms) (Yes i know this character isnt going to be really powerfull, but we find the idea of a fire whip wielding preacher to be incredibly amusing)

Considering this, I had a few questions. I know the RAW rules on these (I think) so im more looking for opinions on these things, if you where our dm.

1. If your evil and your making a cult dedicated to an evil fire god, and your recruiting evil followers, would you still apply the penalty for cruel behavior for attracting cruel followers?

2. All the fire powers would count as a special power for leadership right? Would you count them seperatly? (Aka fire lash, fire throwing ability, flying ability, ect each counting seperatly)

3. Would you allow the charisma bonus from nimbus to apply to your leadership score once you gain it? Its somethign you can do regularly, and i think would be very usefull in gaining followers for an evil, fire aligned temple.(Im pretty sure the RAW on this is no, bet let me know if im wrong.)

4. Does anyone agree with us that this is a neat idea?

Tchazzar is a CE red dragon who ascended to godhood, after posing as a human warlord. His portfolios were battle, Chessenta, strength and victory.

I'm pretty sure that this bonus only applies once. But yes, I do think that these abilities would help attract followers.

Interesting. Could lead to some really intense sermons. Any other ideas anyone?

well, that is an interesting take. Might consider it in a future game if our party makeup is signifigantly diffrent. Currently though, the party in my game consists of a mineral warrior, a dwarf, and 2 tifelings. Average charisma is 6. I dont think any of us are particularly beuatiful people inside or out.

Though this is never actually coverred, the leadership score seems to be geared for "good" aligned creatures, since typically evil villians don't make the best masters (temper, cruelty, lack of loyalty, etc.).

That being said, you are actually seeking out people who feel the same way, and therefore it should apply to getting a "dream" cohort, but someone who worships your god should definately take this penalty away. :) since you would be doing your god's will by being cruel, it seems that "cruelty" would take on a new paradigm (such as giving a peasant child a chocolate cookie, NO! that would be seen as a cruel act, and would be punishable by the fire whip yes?)...

I think its a great idea (not knowing, but guessing what the 10 lvls of psion fireweilder is). I have long enjoyed the evangelist idea, although noone ever wants to play one, and my NPC evangelist got axed almost immediatly by my PCs when he activated a Fire shield for all his allies. My PCs hate damage shields for some reason with a purple passion.

anyways, sounds like a marvelously fun PC for roleplaying. Bards are always fun to RP.

It'd depend on who he's cruel to. If it's a reputation for cruelty to his followers I'd say it still applies. No one, not even evil people, want to be treated badly. If it's a reputation for cruelty to people in general it could go either way. It could show people that he'll do whatever it takes but again you have the issue of the followers themselves not wanting to be treated as such.

2. All the fire powers would count as a special power for leadership right? Would you count them seperatly? (Aka fire lash, fire throwing ability, flying ability, ect each counting seperatly)

I'd say it's just counts once for all of them.

Sounds like good fun to me.

Ohh..... Someone needs to hop in the way-back machine and review their pyschology classes. :}

Ignoring the fact that their ARE people that enjoy being treated cruely (Or otherwise feel motivated to find people who will treat them cruely) thank you for your support.

Id say that the threat of cruelty thoes who disobey is a common theme in evil organizations, certaintly in evil religions. It also sets a precendence where by your followers will be justified in treating others in the same way, a major draw for many evil individuals as it justifies the actions they where going to take anyways.

You can only rule a chaotic evil group by force, and that often implies cruelty.

basicly its up to the DM since he defines what cruel is for each NPC
some people find that letting someone live in coma is cruel while some other would find it cruel that we let him go
it all depends on the interpretation of cruel on personnal basis

BTW masochists dont find it cruel to be whipped... but you do
their everyone should see my point
