Hi!
I've been wondering if there's any feat that allows you to extend the use of Weapon Finesse to one handed melee weapons?

No.

There are some additional non-light weapons that can be used with Weapon Finesse (I'm thinking elven thin-blades) but at best expanding Weapon Finesse to work with all one-handed weapons would be a class feature that isn't available too early. If there was a feat to expand it you'd have probably heard about it because of the weapons it would open up.

Ah, ok, well, that's that for my character concept then. Back to the (imaginary) drawing table.

Thanks for your help!

If you're looking for a greatsword that is finnessable, the Elven Courtblade is what you're looking for. It's in RotW (I believe).

DMG II: Feycrafted weapons. Converts a non-finesseable weapon into a finesseable one for a price (lower damage dice and I forget the costs associated with fey crafted).

About an extra 1000gp. Also, lowers the hardness of the weapon.

I wrote this one a while ago. If you can talk your DM into letting you use it, more power to you.

OVERSIZED WEAPON FINESSE [FIGHTER, MULTI]
Prerequisites: Proficiency with selected weapon, Str 13, Dex 15, Weapon Finesse, BAB +2.
Benefit: Select one type of melee weapon with which you are proficient. You may now treat that weapon as “finessable.” You may use your Dexterity modifier instead of your Strength modifier on attack rolls with the weapon.

The Multi descriptor is something I created for my own use. It replaces the Special note, "This feat can be gained multiple times. It's effects do not stack. Each time you gain the feat, it applies to a different [whatever]." The fighter descriptor is more obvious.

Aha, great!
I'll probably be able to work at least one of these solutions into our campaign. I'm right now running a human ninja, who will go into the Kensai PrC, and I was looking for a nice way of giving him a finessable bastard sword (katana)
Many thanks to you all!

I applaud your effort to work within the rules to achieve such a thing. :cookie:

And I thank you for my first cookie! That's really nice of you :D

Anyway, as I see it, to be able to add your dex mod to AB instead of str when playing a class that focuses much on dex, well, that's just wery good, since DEX gives you a lot more too (ref save, AC). So in order to allow myself to use such a thing I want it to be balanced, beacuse otherwise I ruin the game for the rest of the group and eventually myself.
But I'll bring these ideas to my DM and see what he says. (Wish me luck ;) )

You can talk to your DM about such things.

Realistically, just about any weapon can be used with finesse. In my games, I allow any weapon except axes, bashing weapons, and two-handed weapons in most cases. This is a house rule I go by in my own personal games, so you definately have to clear it with you DM first.

Get the Rokugan book, there its possibly to use it with Katana from the get go :)

And given your class, Rekugan sounds quite nice anyway

So could a monk use weapon finesse with a quarterstaff to receive her dexterity bonus in flurries of blows

Yes, if you add the feycrafted thingy to it, or if your DM would allow the feat that Tyler Do'Urden presented above. Basically it all comes down to if your DM will allow it.

Correction the Fey craft Template cost 1500 for the purposes of attaching it to a weapon. It would only drop a weapon by an average of 1 point of damage per hit. Now if you are worried about it weakening the weapons to were it is easily sundered, just add the Dwarven craft in Races o Stone to the weapon as well. 600 gold more but it increases an items Hardness and Hit points. Of course the extra cost will make it hard to keep up with the weapons of your fellow adventures.

Iaijustu Master from OA, has a class feature that makes katana's finessable.

Another option would be to use a Sunblade. It acts as a short sword in all ways including weapon finesse. And, best of all, its a bad ass sword.

Since its a bastard sword, you could easily ask your DM to find or buy a "katana" version (since they are statistically identical).

This is what I did for my kensai :)

It's amazing that there's so many answers for a question that was initially answered with: No. :P

Thanks a lot for the tip Muddman, my DM didn't allow me to use the feat, so I'll have to find a weapon that's allowed... Now I have this and the Feyblade and, well, he can't deny me every solution I present, right? :D

Wow, you guys totally missed Graceful Edge, it's in a Dragon magazine, issue 128, I believe, It's also on Crystal Keep. You do need nothing in your off hand, but this seems a good solution to me. Here it is:
Graceful Edge
[General, Fighter]
Prerequisites: Base Attack Bonus +1, Weapon Finesse, Weapon Focus with the chosen One-Handed Slashing weapon
Benefits: When fighting with the chosen weapon in your primary hand and no weapon or shield in your off-hand,
receive the following benefits:
a) treat the chosen weapon as ‘Light’ (i.e., Weapon Finesse applies to it);
b) receive a +1 Shield bonus to AC; and
c) if Fighting Defensively or using Total Defense, receive a +2 Shield bonus to AC.

If you guys like samurai and bastard swords, I actually made samurai prestige class to better represent samurai. Originally intended to replace the one in C. Warrior, it can finesse katanas with a class feature I based on the feat. You can check it out in my sig below, I could really use some advice on it.

Hmm, an official feat from the Dragon, and a good one too :P
Now this is something for my dear DM to look at... He'll have much more difficulty to deny me this, since we are already using some stuff from the Dragon!
And I also get a much needed bonus to my AC, yay!

Thanks a lot!

Glad I could help, just out of curiosity, what build are you... er... building? Rogue or some kind of dexterity based fighter?

If you wanted to go with a larger two handed weapon, a spiked chain would suffice and is completely legal for finesse. It also gives you reach! A ninja/kensai chain-wielder...that sounds like fun!

A ninja/rouge/fighter/kensai... I know that it might not be the most efficent build, but it's fun! :D
The reason for me to wan't the katana is that we are running a fairly oriental focused campaign, and I have tried to make my PC as close to a 'real' ninja. Right now he is only 3rd lvl, and is using a short sword, but when he reaches lvl 8, he'll go into the kensai, hopefully with his katana at his side...
