Ok so now I am trying to write up a 12th level "battle" cleric. I dont plan on healing anyone. so I am taking leadership at level 6 and getting a healer cohort. Last week at our game i had an idea of a low level bard being a cohort to go in toot his horn and announce us to the bad guys, then go invisible and sing or play a drum (or something). He would be Harold the Harold. But I would not want to lose my healer.
Is there a feat to allow a second cohort?
Thanks

You could have a bard as a follower. I think the rule of thumb is a PC class followers coounts as two levels higher for purposes ofthe strongest one you can have.

HARLEYDUDE, I can't think of any "extra cohort" off of the top of my head.

IIRC, Tome of Battle has a bunch of leadership-based feats, but none that grant an extra cohort...

A Thrallherd could gain a second thrall (cohort) as the 10th class level special... A Pale Master could gain an Undead Cohort as a class feature (seperate from any from Leadership or Undead Leadership)....

...but anything else escapes me at the moment...

CryoSilver, epic rules are 3.0. With 3.5 Leadership, there is no such restriction on pc classes vs. npc classes.

So yes, depending on how low of a level HARLEYDUDE wants for a "low level bard", then surely that character could be one of the higher level Followers.

Make your follower like this(taken from my post this thread (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=987870)):
"...Now all that said, they are actually very good at what they are supposed to do: Heal. This is especially true with Combat Medic from Heroes of Battle which can spontaneously cast Heal. If you combo this with bard to get Hymn of Healing, either from you or an ally, nobody will ever die again. Well, not before you do at least.

Ultimate Healer:
Bard 2/Healer 3/Combat Medic 5/Fochlucan Lyrist 10
(or replace 1 level of Lyrist with Hierophant to get your touch spells extended to 30')

As far as I know, nothing stops me from learning Druidic with Speak language ranks. Sure, no druid would teach me, but with Decipher Script or tongues or something I could figure it out. Not to mention I could have retrained Druid levels. I would probably recommend Able Learner or doing what I do, which is totally ignore class skills. Mostly, the bard stuff is to get Hymn of Healing. At level 20, you can Close Wounds for 1d4+28+Cha. Not to mention a Combat Medic kicker. That is a silly amount of healing."

Where's this rule of thumb at?

Why wouldn't it be what's just listed in the leadership table in the DMG?

And why bring the Epic Level handbook into the discussion since HARLEY's character is only level 12?

that rule was from the epic level handbook, under the table description for epic leadership.
