| sonofdrizzt06-10-07, 01:27 PM | Is there any Fast Movement-esk feats? I trying to make a REALY fast fighter, but I dont want a barbarian LV. |
| Shadowfax706-10-07, 01:38 PM | Dash in Mini HB gives +5' speed when wearing light or no armor. |
| sonofdrizzt06-10-07, 01:39 PM | yeah I already have that, but I'm lookin for, like.........+10 ft or more. |
| Bedlamtom06-10-07, 01:51 PM | I have a char...archer concept moving at 70 right now. I did include one lvl of barbarian even if you go lawful you keep the move. My char is psionic so add the Freedom mantle +10 while psionically focused, Speed of Thought feat - another + 10 while focused. That's +30 all stacking add a pair of boots Striding and Springing and you are up to +40. Moderately twinked but the group I'm with now are like that and I came up with role playing reasons for the lvl of Barbarian. |
| D.A.Dervish06-10-07, 03:19 PM | We can find the Fleet of Foot feat (nice alliteration) in Player's Guide to Faerun. It's a regional feat that adds 10 ft. to your movement if you're wearing light armor. Other than that, there is a trait called Quick in Unearthed Arcana. Grants 10 ft. movement at the cost of 1hp per level. |
| sonofdrizzt06-11-07, 06:52 PM | As in, permanent? |
| ShinAkuma206-11-07, 11:07 PM | As in, you have it from character creation. It's not really something you "take". |
| Kouk06-12-07, 01:29 AM | Regional feats are feats that are (supposed to be) more powerful than normal feats, but you can only take them at first level. They represent the special heritage of your country or your people, and serve to help differentiate players from different areas of the game world. |
| Dheran06-12-07, 04:30 AM | You said you don't want a Barbarian level, but how about Cleric? The Celerity domain grants a +10' boost to your land speed that's untyped. And Celerity also has the Expeditious Retreat spell. A Cleric gets two domains so you could also take Travel, which has the Longstrider spell at 1st level. |
| Steely_Dan06-12-07, 05:39 AM | The non-spellcasting ranger variant in UA gains fast movement at 6th level I believe. The Speed of Thought psionic feat grants you a 10 ft. insight bonus to movement as long as you are psionically focused. |
| sonofdrizzt06-12-07, 08:36 AM | OK, retake......... I said I didn't want the barbarian, I dont wanna deal with a cleric LV. I cant realy take the regional feat now can I? and while I love psionic characters, I'm looking for a straight fighter. He is an archer and scout and needs to be FAST so he can get around fast and silently. W8!! Just had a thought! What would it cost a rouge to gain fast movement as a class feature, a rouge/fighter I can deal with. |
| Dark1ord06-12-07, 10:04 AM | He is an archer and scout and needs to be FAST so he can get around fast and silently. what about the Scout from Complete Adventurer?... |
| Fabius Maximus06-12-07, 12:04 PM | what about the Scout from Complete Adventurer?... I was about to suggest that, too. |
| sonofdrizzt06-12-07, 02:48 PM | I dont have the book or the funds to get the book at the moment, but I was thinking about that from his early creation stages. But now he's a LV 3 fighter in the middle of a war campain and I told myself that I wouldn't take any multiclass LVs. I'm notorious for creating wierd combanations, like rouge/barbarians and bard/monks (the first 5 lvs were bard, but he was accepted into a monk school by a fluke). SO...................................... ..... |
| sonofdrizzt06-12-07, 02:51 PM | As in, you have it from character creation. It's not really something you "take". and by the way, I was talking about the Quick feat, not the other one. |
| Ulandorf_TheBlue06-12-07, 03:19 PM | with the Martial Study feat you can get the Desert Wind maneuver 'Wind Stride' that is a boost that adds +10 to speed for a round. You would be able to use it once per encounter. Another good one for movement is 'Step of the Wind' Setting Sun stance that lets you ignore difficult terrain, so while everyone else is moving slow you're completely unphased by rubble and undergrowth. This feat (Martial Stance) does require one martial maneuver though (like Wind Stride). If you don't have the book, Tome of Battle... Wind stride is a Boost that is activated by a swift action and last for 1 round. Usuable 1/per encounter Step of the Wind is a Stance that can be initiated as a swift action but lasts for as long as you wish it be active. (unless of course you fall unconscious or die and it is then ended) |

SO...................................... ..... Barb/Rogue isn't weird. What do you think Conan would be if statted in D&D? Talk to your DM if you can change the 3 Fighter levels into 3 Scout levels if you can't be bothered to multiclass. |
| sonofdrizzt06-12-07, 07:25 PM | but I still dont have the complete adventurer wich makes that a tad bit tricky |
| NerdNumber106-12-07, 07:46 PM | Draconic aura (swiftness) (dragon magic): As long as you keep your aura active (which you can do as long as you stay conscious) you, as well as everyone within 30ft, gets a 5ft speed boost as well as a +1 bonus on climb, swim, and jump checks. The prerequisite is 3 character levels and dragonblood characters increase the speed and skill bonuses of their aura based on level. |

What would it cost a rouge to gain fast movement as a class feature, a rouge/fighter I can deal with. Being a straight-up fighter or rogue/fighter isn't going to allow you much speed beyond Dash and some of the variants previously discussed. Since you're focusing on scouting and archery, I would recommend taking either 3 levels in scout, 1 level in Wildrunner (Races of the Wild), or 1 level in Forest Reeve (Complete Champion). Or all 3. And if you have the woodland stride ability, the 2nd Forest Reeve level (which grants you woodland stride) stacks to give you another 10 foot bonus to your speed. Also, the scout's skirmish ability makes excellent use of enhanced speed. With levels in fighter to give you your bonus feats, you'll have a pretty fast archery oriented combatant. |
| Cariyaga06-14-07, 12:14 AM | Go to Crystal Keep (If you don't know what it is, just search it), find scout, print everything out. Thar ya go. |
| tui06-15-07, 01:21 PM | You may also want to peruse through the Speed Increase section of the Lists of Stuff (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=662842) to see if any of those sources would work for you. |
| Rowangar06-15-07, 07:55 PM | You can get psionic feats by being an appropriate race, like the kalashtar from eberron. There are several others in the XPH, then take the psionic feats, without sacrificing fighter levels. There's a bunch of multiclassing options: monk, barbarian, scout, variant ranger, to name a few, but I'm guessing you want straight fighter... the ToB offers some interesting options. But it really depends on what you want more, to be a fighter and give up feats (the only real fighter class feature) or multiclass and get bonuses quickly. Another good point to remember is the monk and barbarian class features are untyped movement bonuses, so I'm pretty sure they apply to all movement types, unlike the scout for example who's movement only applies to land speed. |
| primemover00306-16-07, 07:40 AM | It looks like you stuck with getting your hands on magic to boost your speed. Short of playing a monk, barbarian, or scout you need to get your hands on Boots of Striding & Springing or Speed, Potions of Haste (+30 feet!), or Potions of Fly. |
| NiQil06-16-07, 07:55 AM | Another way to gain access to psionic feats is to burn a feat by taking Wild Talent, which gives you a 2 pp reserve. As a fighter, you have plenty of feats to burn...this one just can't be taken as a fighter bonus feat. But it will give you access to all psionic feats...Speed of Though among them. |

Incorrect with regard to the types of speed bonuses. Barbarian is untyped, but monk in an enhancement bonus. Fast Movement (Ex): At 3rd level, a monk gains an enhancement bonus to her speed, as shown on Table: The Monk. A monk in armor or carrying a medium or heavy load loses this extra speed. |
