Is Favored Critical a 3.5 feat?

Sort of. Ask your DM.

If it is in a 3.0 book and has not been revised, no. Can it be used in a 3.5 game? Yes, as long as it does not conflict with 3.5 rules.

The 3.5 edition is a revision of 3.0 not a replacement. If a feat, spell, ability, etc., has not been revised it can still be used as long as it complies with the 3.5 rules. If it doesn't then you could make the necessary adjustments to it that both maintain what it grants (if possible in 3.5) and allow it to follow the revised rules.

Favored Critical is from Masters of the Wild (3.0) and has not been revised for 3.5, but as long as what it does is allowable in 3.5 you should be able to use it. I don't have the book with me but if it does what I think it does (increase your crit range against favored enemies) it would not stack with the Improved Critical feat or the Keen weapon ability in 3.5, as crit range increases from different sources do not stack.

Ok, my turn. The Deepwood Sniper has an ability called Keen Arrows that states it does not stack with other keen effects, but can it be assumed that it also does not stack with Imp critical, or by wording of the ability would it actually allow that?

How is this to be interpreted (im thinking 'no' but I can hope.)

Well favored critical states that it stacks with keen effects and not with improved crit. My DM freaked out as it works wonders with a keen falchion.

It is a very powerful feat as written and I see why they didn't put it back in for DM Sanity. [Sanity needs to be capitalized] Though this feat can be repaired easily with sunder attempts.

favored critical should not stack with keen, even if it says it does, because critical stacking was removed with 3.5... why not just show your DM the 3.0 improved critical.

I would allow favored critical in my games, but no stacking currently, unless I houserule Imp crit to stack with keen. Which I have done for a game.(BTW it does not break it)

Bullcrap. You tried to give the impression that the answer is Yes, which is dishonest.

The rule is NOT "Yes, as long as it does not conflict with 3.5 rules.". No where in general rule books does it ever say the answer is at all yes.

The rule is "ASK YOUR DM". He gets to say.
In this game type, I would expect"
Strict Game, the DM will say no.
Loose Game, the DM will say "Maybe I will let it in after I look over the feat and decide if I will allow into my game."
Power Game, the DM will say "Yes, as long as it does not conflict with 3.5 rules."
Anything Goes Game: Yes.

The "revision" stuff you said is basically your opinion, full of fluffy text, but no crunch. There are MAJOR changes from 3.0 to 3.5, criticals being a significat part of that. Among other things, sometimes the changes are not obvious. Smart DM's will not just accept everything without checking them. That is how crap Pun Pun got created (combined 3.0 and 3.5 stuff for a build that basically was a God).

The game is radically different, and you can not just assume the answer is Yes. You must ask your DM. He gets to say either way.

What you said can create trouble between the player and the DM. If the DM says yes, fine. If the DM says no, the player will be all upset, cause you got his hopes up.

Well the main reason I asked was because I was trying to figure out why they have Master's of the Wild a 3.0 book listed as a 3.5 pdf at the official site for WoTC .pdf's.

Also, the revision statement was the same thing my group agreed on. If it gets reprinted it's fair game, if not it must not break the current rules of 3.5. If it doesn't then we rebuild the feat to get at least the spirit of the feat if possible.

I am fine with my DM's call as he rocks as far as story is concerned. We did get a feat adjustment, no stacking, it just doubles the crit range with every weapon vs your favored enemy. Still very nice.

I was not dishonest. I was truthful. The feat is 3.0 and it can be used in a 3.5 game. Be careful with your accusations.

Try reading the sidebar "Why a Revision?" on page 4 of the 3.5 Player's Handbook. Last sentence of the third paragraph. The core rules do say yes.

Favored Critical has yet to be revised or updated but is still compatiple with 3.5, it just needs a slight adjustment. That adjustment would be no stacking of abilities, feats, magic, etc., that increases a weapon's critical threat range.
