| devdas04-15-07, 10:33 PM | Is there a feat that lets you improve your mount without a class feature? (IE paladin mount) |
| Fireclave04-15-07, 10:41 PM | clicky (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/re/20031118a) |
| devdas04-15-07, 11:51 PM | That is exactly what I am looking for, but if its not in a printed WoTC book, my GM won't allow it. |
| Fireclave04-16-07, 01:25 AM | But...dude...it's printed by WoTC. On their site even. Run it by him anyway. The only difference is that they're giving you this one for free. I really hope your DM is not that uncompromising. But if he is, do this instead: Take Leadership, awaken your mount, and take your mount as a cohort. Now that your mount an intelligent cohort, it can gain class levels. Not just racial HD. Class levels. I'm thinking Awakened Lion Psion/Slayer, just for kicks. But if for some reason you DM doesn't like psionics either, make your mount a cleric. |
| devdas04-16-07, 02:53 AM | How do you "awaken" your mount? |
| Fireclave04-16-07, 03:09 AM | With this spell here (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/awaken.htm) |
| Xeviat-DM04-16-07, 03:11 AM | Awaken is a druid spell, but a DM might require you to take leadership. Heck, just take leadership and have your cohort be a mount. I think that will be worth more than the WotC site feat. In my games, I allow Handle Animal to add HD to trained animals. Such training requires some time (but the training can be done as a part of regular adventuring if the animal is brought with you), cash, and a Handle Animal check. This allows an animal to remain with a PC for some time, even if they aren't a Druid or Ranger. Druid and Ranger animal companions still have special abilities that normal animals don't. |
