| servingwench04-17-08, 06:48 PM | As title says, is there a feat that would grant an extra 5' move, or a full move? not all the time just few time? Star wars has a feat called heroic surge that allowed a move or attack opition that was useable a certain times a day per level. Is this feat avalible in D&D |
| QOShea04-17-08, 07:32 PM | The feat you are looking for is called Dash. Page 97 Complete Warrior. Basically gives +5' movement when unarmored or lightly encumbered. |

That's all the time, he means a simple 5' step from time to time. @ Servingwrench: There's definitely feats that let you move in lieu of AoO's (Evasive Reflexes, ToB). I'll have to look around for one that fits exactly what you're looking for. |
| Dheran04-17-08, 09:20 PM | There is no feat that gives an extra 5' step, as that would be too inexpensive a boost for classes that get bonus feats. There are various ways to get either a second 5' step, or take a 10' step in place of a 5' step, but these all require considerable investment in class ranks/money/skill ranks/time. For instance, you can take a 10' step instead of a 5' step with a DC 40 Tumble check. Or you can train with a Sparring Dummy of the Master -- if you have 1 Monk level, 30,000 gp, and 4 weeks -- and get the same benefit. You can gain a second 5' step each round if you've got 7+ levels of the Elocater PrC. As you can see, all of these "solutions" to the problem require much more character investment than just a single feat. A Belt of Battle (Magic Item Compendium) is probably the cheapest partial solution: it offers up to 3 extra move actions per day. |
| kalstrand04-17-08, 09:46 PM | Heroic Surge can be found in some of the Dragonlance Supplements from Margaret Weis Productions and works just like the one you described. |
| Ace_of_time04-17-08, 10:06 PM | I will assuming you mean 5' step? If that is the case then pick up some side stepping boots. There is also an item that give an extra action but don't remember which one in the MIC. |
| Wih04-17-08, 11:39 PM | Heroic Surge from Eberron lets you spend 2 action dice to get an extra move or standard action. Apart from Sparring Dummy of the Master (A&EG), the only other 2 ways I know of getting a 10' step is the Elocater PrC (Psionics), and Tome of Battle has a stance that will let you do that (Press the Advantage, IIRC). |
| servingwench04-18-08, 12:00 AM | Was wondering how to get skirmish bonus on a scout and get a full atack or move 5' attack and them move again 5' to get 10' move, like i said not all the time, just a few to make scout full attack feesable, with skirmish bonuses. If DM allows it, ill take heroic surge at level 6/9 ish. but have ot got to that level yet, so I have time. |
| Wih04-18-08, 12:01 AM | Travel Devotion from CChamp, Pounce and Greater Manyshot are the usual routes to get your skirmish off. |
| Spikes01k04-18-08, 12:18 AM | Travel Devotion from CChamp, Pounce and Greater Manyshot are the usual routes to get your skirmish off. Durvish dancer is also a way to do it as well. |
| Nezkrul04-18-08, 12:40 AM | buy yourself a 5 ft. x 5 ft. flying carpet and hop on. |
| Obsidianjaerc04-18-08, 04:02 AM | buy yourself a 5 ft. x 5 ft. flying carpet and hop on. Clever, but can you spell out how that would work? |
| zeratulcraft04-18-08, 04:10 AM | Could always try the Spring Attack chain, Bounding Assault (2nd attack) and Rapid Blitz (3rd attack) are in PHB2. |
| Nezkrul04-18-08, 03:18 PM | Carpet of Flying This rug is able to fly through the air as if affected by an overland flight spell of unlimited duration. The size, carrying capacity, and speed of the different carpets of flying are shown on the table below. Beautifully and intricately made, each carpet has its own command word to activate it—if the device is within voice range, the command word activates it, whether the speaker is on the rug or not. The carpet is then controlled by spoken directions. aka free action during your turn It isn't a mount. However, before using this tactic, consult your DM. It is completely legit, RAW, to use a Carpet of Flying to get full attacks with skirmish. A 5 ft. x 5 ft. carpet costs 20,000 gold pieces. |
| ToastedAmphibian04-18-08, 08:23 PM | Take martial manuver (sudden leap) Lets you make a jump check as a swift action, and move the indicated distance. Seeing as your faster than most (Being a scout) you already have a bonus to your jump checks. Really Really FUN if you happen to be a Thri-Kreen. If you can squeze in a few levels of swordsage, there is a stance that gives you concealment whenever you move atleast 10ft. I always thought that would be great on a scout. |
| Dheran04-18-08, 09:50 PM | Was wondering how to get skirmish bonus on a scout and get a full atack or move 5' attack and them move again 5' to get 10' move, like i said not all the time, just a few to make scout full attack feesable, with skirmish bonuses. The most straightforward way is to take at least 1 level of Monk and buy a Sparring Dummy of the Master. Once you've finished your training you can take 10' steps -- and you can also sell the Sparring Dummy back for half price; you don't need it again after you finish the training. The is the best way I know to make full attacks and get skirmish damage. You can do it all day long with a missile weapon and never run out of action points or need to refresh your maneuvers. You won't incur any of the penalties (for Manyshot/Greater Manyshot), or need an expensive feat chain (5 feats to get Rapid Blitz; 4 feats to get Greater Manyshot). While the 10' step approach is also legal for melee, it's logistically a bit complicated. If the opponent is right next to you, you need to be able to go through 2 squares (10') and still be in melee range. When you're fighting in close quarters 10' of movement might force you away from the previous opponent -- but if the quarters are that close, that probably means another enemy will be within 10'. This could fail completely is in a 5' wide corridor, because 5' back and then 5' forward returning to the same square doesn't count as 10' movement for skirmish. The answer: enough Tumble skill to move right through the enemy, at full speed (because half speed would only let you take half your 10' adjustment). With a DC 35 check you Tumble to their opposite side and make another full attack with skirmish damage. Lather, rinse, and repeat until dead. |
| runestar04-18-08, 09:57 PM | There is a 5th lv white raven stance which lets you take 2 5-ft steps each round, though you would need to be at least lv18 (for IL9) before being able to acquire it via a feat. |
| Wih04-20-08, 09:54 PM | It isn't a mount. However, before using this tactic, consult your DM. It is completely legit, RAW, to use a Carpet of Flying to get full attacks with skirmish. A 5 ft. x 5 ft. carpet costs 20,000 gold pieces. Not quite. Errata says that the scout has to move under his own command - being on a mount or being bullrushed doens't count for your 10' of movement. |
| Nezkrul04-20-08, 10:47 PM | Not quite. Errata says that the scout has to move under his own command - being on a mount or being bullrushed doens't count for your 10' of movement. correct, a carpet of flying isn't a mount, and you aren't being bullrushed by it, you are commanding it to move (aka moving under your own command) |
| Drackthor04-20-08, 11:27 PM | correct, a carpet of flying isn't a mount, and you aren't being bullrushed by it, you are commanding it to move (aka moving under your own command) |
| jaelis04-20-08, 11:56 PM | correct, a carpet of flying isn't a mount, and you aren't being bullrushed by it, you are commanding it to move (aka moving under your own command) Can't say I buy that myself. The description reads to me like it should be treated as a mount. It has it's own speed and carrying capacity, and is capable of independent movement. The rules the game provides for such situations is the mount rules. But less debatable is the fact that it has only average maneuverability, which leaves a lot to be desired for a fighting platform. |
