| Lord_Ao01-23-08, 08:54 PM | Hey all, I recall reading about a feat which grants some kind of a bonus for saves against death effects etc. and so forth, can anyone shed some light on what i'm looking for? Thank you |
| RobbyPants01-23-08, 09:38 PM | Well, the Font of Life feat (Heroes of Horror) grants an extra save against energy drain, but that's a bit different. Resist Death (Epic Level HB) allows you to resist death from massive damage. Fearless Destiny (Races of Destiny) helps you to avoid death, but I don't know what it means beyond that (I don't own the book). Spurn Death's Touch (Libris Mortis) lets you use Turn Undead attempts to remove some harmful affects of undead creatures. Other than that, I don't have much more time to look. Feel free to browse the feat index (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/lists/feats) to see if you can find anything useful. |

You Could also create (if it don't already exist) a greater Iron Will feat prerequisite of having Iron will, giving an extra +2 or +4. Ring of Death Ward The subject is immune to all death spells, magical death effects, energy drain, and any negative energy effects. This spell doesn’t remove negative levels that the subject has already gained, nor does it affect the saving throw necessary 24 hours after gaining a negative level.Death ward does not protect against other sorts of attacks even if those attacks might be lethal. (CLR 7th) 112,000 gp |
| Obsidianjaerc01-24-08, 08:38 PM | That ring has CL 7. Enduring Life & Lasting Life allow you to ignore and then purge negative levels, which make up a major component of death effects. They were originally from LM and were reprinted (and possibly updated) in EtCR. If your DM would consider homebrew, you can try this feat of mine. SILVER SOUL Your spirit easily resists the dread effects of powers of death Prerequisites Con 13, Wis 13, Knowledge (religion) 5 ranks Benefits You gain a +4 bonus of saving throws against death effects and to remove negative levels. Once per day as an immediate action you may invoke your full resistance to unnatural death and benefits from the effects of the deathward spell until the start of your next action . |

Slay Living uses a Fortitude save, and so do Circle of Death, Wail of the Banshee and Finger of Death. A Bodak's Death Gaze uses a Fortitude save, as does a Narzugon's. Oh, and a Banshee's wail (duh!). Those are the most iconic Death effects in the game that actually allow a save (as opposed to, for example, a vorpal sword), and they're all Fortitude. So better get a good Con and Great Fortitude! |
