Is there a feat that lets you use a 1st-level arcane spell of your choice as a spell-like abilitiy usable at will?

If yes where?

If not, would such a feat be too powerful?

For Example:

Natural Spellcaster
Prerequisites: 1 rank in Spellcraft, character level 3rd.
Benefit: You can choose one 1st-level arcane spell that you can use as a spell like-ability usable at will. Your caster level equals 1/2 your character level. The spell's save DC equals 11 + your Charisma modifier.

Charm Person

Cure Light Wounds

True Strike

Enlarge Person on all your friends, every minute.

Occasionally you see people suggesting a feat to let you cast a level 0 feat at will.

I usually point out the abuse potential of that version.

You are the first person I have seen in a long time to suggest doing it for 1st level spells.

Maybe as an Epic feat.

Well, perhaps one should limit the choice to a list of spells that aren't that abusive.

What I'm acutally looking for is something similiar to the reserve feats in Complete Mage. The problem is that my illusionist has evocation and conjuration as prohibited school and so the reserve feats are of no use as almost every spell with a cold, fire, electricity or acid descriptor is either evocation or conjuration.

In PHBII there's a feat which lets you use Detect Magic at will. This feat requires caster level 8th. Detect Magic is a 0th level spell. To get 1st level spells at will, you'd logically need a caster level higher than 8th. Maybe 11th.

There's already a feat for this. It's called Innate Spell, and it's in the Complete Arcane. It requires three feat prereqs and you have to permanently sacrifice a spellslot 8 levels higher to power it, meaning you can't even get a 1st level spell-like abilty at will until about 18th level.

Tome and Blood had a feat called Innate Spell which let you do this, but it has very steep prerequisites. I don't know if the feat has been reprinted since.

For now, the best option in general for at-will magic is still the reserve feats from Complete Mage.

Yes, but with evocation and conjuration as prohibited class for my illusionist I do not have access to the reserve feat.

Perhaps, I should just drop conjuration as prohibited school just to make use of the reserve feats.

There are plenty of reserve feats that don't specifically require evocation or conjuration spells, even those infinite shooting ones. Invisible Needle, for instance, only requires a [force] spell of 3rd level or higher. Explosive Runes fits these requirements, and it's an abjuration. The requirements for Fiery Burst can be met with Flame Arrow, a transmutation spell. So just comb through your spell lists very carefully, and you may find the spells you need.

Alternatively, you can go to this website to search for spells: IMarvinTPA's Dungeons and Dragons Database (http://www.imarvintpa.com/DnDLive/index.php).

It's called Vatic Gaze, and it has another benefit, as well - it allows the character to make a check to see how powerful a target's spells are.

It can be a hell of a good feat, depending on how you use it.

Yes, you should. Conjuration is one of the schools that you should never, ever ban. It does everything from transportation, summoning, healing, and damage dealing. It's just way to versatile.

Consider dropping Necromancy or Enchantment instead.

That's right. But to make good use of a reserve feat you should have spells with the appropriate descriptor at almost every level.
