I'm currently running a Dragonlance Campaign, and one of my characters is wanting to spend a feat to add a skill to his class list. I know there is one in the FRCS, but I thought there was another feat elsewhere. I've been looking through the feat list, but so far I've come up with nothing.

There is the feat Skill Knowledge, on pg81 of Unearthed Arcana. It lets you add either 1or 2 skills to your list, depending on whether you're multi-class or not.

Able Learner from...Races of Destiny, I think...makes all skills class skills. (Must have a human component, I believe)

Able Learner (you're right, it's RoD) doesn't make all skills class skills, it allows cross-class skills to be purchased for one rank per point. You do NOT get the rank cap increased to class skill level for any skills with this (though a 1-level dip into the Factotum class from Dungeonscape does it).

You can get a choice of 9 skills with martial sudy feat in Tome of Battle (depending on discipline of manuever chosen). You get a cool move usable 1/encounter: better to take after 1st as you get better choices.

able learner is human creatures only but it makes it so that cross class skills only cost 1 skill point. Now that means that your cross class skills still have the cross class skills limit such as you can only have two points at first level in a cross class skill. Now if you had a skill earlier but not now then that problem goes away. An example is if you were a rogue and then at second level you picked up fighter and you had able learner. Since you had tumble as a class skill from rogue you can have the maximum number of skill points in it and because you have able learner each point only costs one skill point. Because of this able learner is best used when you have a classes that at least one has the skills you want tand then you get multiclass versatility. If you only have one class and you want to add class skills then you want to use other abilities as able learner alone will not allow to get break the cross class skill maximum.

It really helps if you tell us what skills your player wants as some feats may exist to help such as martial study which grants you a martial maneuver and gives you the main skill as a class skill for all your classes. An example is a desert wind maneuver would grant you tumble as a permanent class skill. Education gives you all knowledges as class skills. Skilled city dweller allows you to trade skills for certain other skills and that is from the cityscape web enhancement here. So if you could let me know which skill your player wants then I am sure we could find the exact feat or ability that best helps your player.

The Cosmopolitan feat lets you add one skill as a class skill and gain a +2 bonus with that skill. I believe that this was printed in one of the Faerun books, though in 3.5 it was changed to just give +2 to three different skills. I originally saw this feat in the Star Wars d20 Hero's Guide, for what it's worth.

While the feats "Guerrilla Warrior" and "Guerrilla Scout" from Heroes of War don't give you new class skills, they DO eliminate cross-class cost for Move Silently/Hide and Listen/Spot respectively (and a couple other benefits).

Perhaps those might be up your alley? Besides, unlike Able Learner, these can be taken any time by anyone.
