| Ainaelin04-20-07, 05:36 PM | Hello all. I was looking for a feat that I'm certain to have seen in a book but cannot seem to find now that I need it. As far as I can remember, the feat woud increase the duration of your spells by one category : 1 rd/lvl would become 1 mn/lvl, 1 mn/lvl =>10 mn/lvl, 10 mn/lvl => 1 h/lvl 1 h/lvl => 24H I have looked for it in all my books and in the Feat index on the wizards web site, as well as on these boards through Google, but can not find it. Does anybody know about that feat and if so, tell me the name and the book where I can find it, please? Thank you Edit : I know it's not Extend Spell or Persistent spell, by the way. ;) |
| runestar04-21-07, 02:04 AM | It looks like a reverse version of the rapid spell metamagic feat. Are you sure you are not reading it backwards?:P |
| Ainaelin04-21-07, 08:57 AM | Well, I'm pretty sure I saw it like I said, about a year or two ago. It was definitely a way to make the duration longer by increasing the category. Maybe it was made by a poster here, however, even though I don't think so. |
| Nadaka04-21-07, 03:11 PM | It sounds like what persistant spell should have been like... But no I have not seen this feat. lets see... At the low end it gives x10 to duration, at 10min->hours it only gives x6, and at hours-> 1day it gives somewhere between x24 and x1.2, though that would depend on the level of the spell and the level adjustment. If I had to estimate the spell level adjustment I would say about +2 if you want to powergame, +3 for balance, +4 if you are conservative and +5 if you just want to gimp whoever takes the feat. |
| Ainaelin04-22-07, 09:22 AM | Oh well, I'll try to make do with Extend Spell, then... :( Thank you for your answers, guys. |
| Forged_Fury04-22-07, 10:02 AM | I can't recall clearly, but wasn't that how Extend Spell worked in 3.0? |
| Merestil Haye04-22-07, 10:04 AM | I can't recall clearly, but wasn't that how Extend Spell worked in 3.0?No, Extend Spell was not changed from 3.0 to 3.5. |
| Ainaelin04-22-07, 10:17 AM | I can't recall clearly, but wasn't that how Extend Spell worked in 3.0? So, It does ring a bell for you as well? It's not 3.0 core, but maybe it was 3.0 material from splat books, I don't know, even though I saw it less than two years ago. I hope someone with better memory than mine will come here and answer my plea... :P |
| Roxlimn04-22-07, 12:28 PM | The feat was proposed by Macrovore as the Prolong Spell feat on the Skills and Feats boards last 11/11/06 at 9:52 pm. The estimated spell level cost was between two to three spell levels. It's possible that the feat mechanics were proposed at least twice before on the Magic and Spells boards and sometime on the ENWorlds boards, but I can't find any trace of those instances. It's also possible that a similar mechanic can be found on the Netbook of Feats, but I've no patience to wade through that quagmire. |

Well, I just took a look on every metamagic feat from the Netbook and it's not there, so I must face the fact that it was not on paper but on my screen that I had seen it (even though I can't remember that thread...). Thus it's not official, and as such, probably won't be allowed by the other players/DMs in my group. *sigh* I thank you for your time, Roxlimn |
| Roxlimn04-22-07, 01:11 PM | No prob. Took no time at all. I recalled the thread and feat name from memory, so I googled it and got the thread, but only that one thread. Easy Peasy. As I said, I seem to recall a similar feat mechanic being mentioned at least in three other instances, but I can't find them. IMO, the feat is quite reasonable for 3 spell levels - definitely more reasonable than Persistent Spell. Using this feat, you can simulate Overland Flight with the Fly spell, albeit you're faster and you saved the Spells Known slot - but it did cost you a feat and a slightly higher spell slot. |
