I can't cite specifics but I think you could find feat that allows for better use of Sneak Attack and Favored Enemy together. Remember Tracking is actually based on a character's skill so having a higher INT should help tracking by granting more skill points to keep Survival maximized. |

Not really. I'd do ranger 6/rogue4/PrC 10 (nightsong enforcer, for example), or maybe just take a short dip in rogue and continue ranger. What kind of mix do you want to have? |
| SolenVlos10-08-07, 07:13 PM | what does nightsong enforcer does? what I'm trying to elaborate a character to be a hunter of both enemies and treasure, working for a king or a guild or a society. excel at furtiveness, tracking, infiltrating and all that. any hints or help on to create something like this? |

The nightsong enforcer is, by concept, a thief/spy guild's elite legbreaker and, for lack of a better work, warrior. They get full BAB, 4 SA dice over 10 levels, team benefits in some rogue skills, and two rogue HLA (improved evasion, for example) and some other things. It's in CAdv, and is imo a very good warrior/rogue hybrid. For your concept, I can't help but think of the bloodhound, justiciar and, as a weird throwback, the Underdark Imaskari Vengeance Taker as far as PrCs go. Though to be honest, any ranger/rogue or even a rogue with some survival and the track feat could work. Ranger/scout with SHunter is, as usual, a good pick, but you might not like its mechanics. |

| AtsuiShoto10-09-07, 08:55 PM | Hm, you could pull it off with 3 classes using the type of feats feats you envision using, if you had a feat for ranger/x and a feat for rogue/x. Just dip into ranger and rogue, and advance in your third class x. Such options: Ascetic Hunter and Ascetic Rogue [CAdv] (Monk feats. Sneak attack advances, favored enemy does not, but the stunning DC improves against favored enemies) Devoted Inquisitor and Devoted Tracker [CAdv] (Paladin feats. Sneak attack and favored enemy damage don't advance. Wild Empathy and animal companion do advance, and smiting sneak attacks may daze the target.) Swift Ambusher and Swift Hunter [CSco] (Scout feats. Favored enemy advances, sneak attack does not. Only single-level dips needed.) Mechanically, none of those combinations seems optimal, and they probably don't fit your character concept well, either. Oh well. |
