Is it just me, or does it seem that Tyler Durden, ala Fightclub, benefits from the Vow of Poverty feat? How could I adapt a Vow of Poverty feat for a nongood alignment (probably CN)?

I suppose... you know... once you get passed that whole being imaginary and everything.

This is D&D. Everyone is imaginary. :)

This is D&D. Everyone is imaginary. :)

I'm pretty certain that was his point.

i dunno. im pretty sure he was just crazy, hardcore, and REALLY poor.

not every hardcore mofo with no money is VoP you know. (and its shows lack of imagination to assume so!)

Well, I guess you would just change anything that stated that your good aligned character could do it, and change it to non good. Simple, unlike the movie that within our ring of friends has to see it at least once every three months or so.

Well, I'd remove the exalted feats. Perhaps they could be replace by bonus feats. Although I do tend to agree with Rulebook in that I don't think he needs to have Vow of Poverty.

Agreed. No need for VoP, as by design, that guy wasn't actually a good guy.

I assume, I never saw the movie.

But, you'd better not be talking about some sort of club.

... Because if you are, I'll bet you're breaking some sort of rule.

Well... difference between imaginary and imaginary^2 aside, he didn't see to exhibit any of the benefits of Vow of Poverty unless he was extremely low level. As Rulebook said, just because you choose poverty doesnt nessisarily mean that you nessisarily gain a feat from it.

Ouch.

What I'm referring to is a not a lack of imagination in proper roleplaying or trying to bend the rules simply to accomodate a nongood character. What I was attempting to point out was the seeming spiritual strength that he derived from rejecting a materialistic life. I wasn't specifically looking for if Tyler Durden himself had the Vow of Poverty feat, merely that it seemed like inspiration for a PC. I was looking for suggestions on how to incorporate the Vow of Poverty feat to someone who while rejecting physical possessions had a definite nongood slant to their behavior. (Hence the CN suggestion.)

Well Tyler sold soap and enjoyed a fat settlement from his former employer, so I don't think he's anti-materialist per se. He's more anti-establishment. He's an anarchist. He gains his power from creating chaos.

I would be more interested in a more complete omage to the story, complete with a good character, having the POV, but combined with a Demonic possesion.
