| blackjackg03-08-07, 12:04 AM | I'm sure I'm not the first to have this idea (there may even be canon rules to the same effect, but I haven't seen them). Anyway, here it is. Armored Adept (General) Req's: Armor Proficiency (all armor), Endurance, Base Attack Bonus +12 The character is better able to move in armor. For the purpose of qualifying for class skills, the weight of the armor the character is wearing is now determined by the armor's Armor Check Penalty rather than its actual weight. All factors that increase or decrease the ACP of armor (racial, class or PrC) are taken into account to determine effective armor status. A.C.P. Status 0 Unarmored 1-2 Light 3-5 Medium 6+ Heavy For example, a Monk with the Armored Adept feat wearing a Mithral Chain Shirt (Light Armor, Armor Check Penalty 0) is considered unarmored and retains all her monk abilities. This feat does not change the Armor Bonus, Arcane Spell Failure chance, land speed reduction or Max Dex bonus of any armor. A character still takes full penalties from carrying a medium or heavy load. A fighter may select Armored Adept as one of his bonus feats. Breakability: It could well be inherently breakable. With four levels of Dread Commando (Heroes of Battle) we could be seeing monks in mithral full plate. I set the requirements fairly high both to balance out the potential benefit and to vary the potential gain with the cost (Rangers and Barbarians qualify easiest and benefit least. Rogues and Monks benefit more, but have to work harder to qualify). Any thoughts? |
