Prerequisites: Int 13 Benefit: You use your intelligence modifier in place of charisma for charisma-based skill checks. All charisma-based skill ranks cost 1 skill point for you to purchase, even if the skill is cross-class for you. The maximum number of ranks you can purchase in a cross-class skill remains the same. -=-=-=-=- Golden Tongue You possess great wit as well as charm. Prerequisites: Int 15, Manipulative Benefit: You add your intelligence modifier and charisma modifier to charisma-based skill checks. |

Especially with the added pseudo-Able Learner. Plus, I'm not sure how being manipulative is going to help you use magic devices. Or disguise yourself. Or perform. And to some extent, handle animals. I'd definately suggest limiting this to Bluff, Diplomacy and Intimidate, and that's still a bit strong, especially if you keep the cheap skills. Perhaps you could make it so you can only use your intelligence modifier if you have a minute in advance to plan your verbal attack? That way it makes them good in the situations where they would be manipulative, and in those situations where they're caught off guard (it could happen), they still have their cheaper training in those skills to fall back on. Same thing with Golden Tongue as with Manipulative; limit it to Bluff, Diplomacy and Intimidate. |

| The Vorpal Tribble06-03-07, 09:20 AM | Manipulative seems too strong compared to current "Use <modifier> for <skill>" feats, like Tactile Trapfinder or the like. Well, that is a bit of a weak feat until you get to the last bit: "Benefit: In addition, you receive no penalty on these checks for darkness or blindness." That right there is pretty snazzy. Plus, I'm not sure how being manipulative is going to help you use magic devices. Or disguise yourself. Or perform. And to some extent, handle animals. I'm not sure how Charisma is of much use with magic device myself. Disguise, it can easily be used by intelligence. You know how to pick out characteristics and mannerism to use that other folk would not notice. Half the performs don't make much sense with Charisma either. Or at least make as much sense as Intelligence. Basically you learn to do this intelligently, and not by sheer talent or instinct. Same thing with Golden Tongue as with Manipulative; limit it to Bluff, Diplomacy and Intimidate. Except it'd work very well with perform. Comedy and oratory in particular. |
