I was just wondering, have I gone it insane? I have looked over the core book and can't find any rule about this, maybe I have just gone blind.

Lets say I get a class feat at level 14, the feat I want, I won't qualify till level 15 in that class, is there any rule saying I can't save that feat for 1 level and buy it then?

You get a feat at level 15, anyway. Any feat you want.
Just take something else at level 14, and take the one you want when you qualify for it.

No, you select the feat at the level that you obtain it at. It's a part of leveling.

You can not delay the acquisition of feats/skill points. You MUST take a feat when you have the choice, not later on.

But like Requiem said, you get one at 15th anyway.

You may not saves feats for later. You get them when you get them, and that's that.

Ok, I understand that, can I get an SRD quote maybe? I can take your word for it but I can't find the rule.

It is in the rules for leveling up.

These are not in the SRD, but they are in the PHB.

Just go to the section that tells you how to level up, it clearly says you can not save feats or skill points.

If it helps you could look at the wait before qualifying and having an open feat slot as an addition requisite. This would allow someone who isn't quite as focused to still have the feat come online at the same time. Perhaps an example:

Some feat requires ability to cast 4th level spells for a nice benefit. Now because most (all) classes need to be at least 7th level for 4th level spells you may want to save your 6th level feat for it. The problem may be that the benefit is too powerful at 7th level but ok for 9th level when you normally get a feat slot. The unavailability of an open feat also would allow a sorcerer to obtain this feat just as soon as a wizard would and also allows each class a little room to multiclass and still meet the prereqs by the time everyone can get it at 9th level.

The timing of some abilities isn't always an accident. If you look at several spellcasting class's "advanced learning" ability you'll notice they always come the level before normally gaining a new spell level; if that ability can be delayed one level it could be used to get an even more powerful spell. Feat can be the same way as the "hidden cost" is used to balance it.
