| nighttree05-26-07, 10:14 AM | This is kind of "backwords".....but I am looking for feats (or possibly class features) that someone specalizing in the "creation of constructs" might have, that would impact the stats of the constructs they create ("Rudimentry Intellegance" feat, or "Improved Effigy" class features as an example). This is actually to flesh out a constuct PC (level adjusted Maug) that will be introduced in our game soon. The construct in question is actually only taking four of the five levels of Maug (so it will be medium sized and not as strong) and is meant to be something like the Vision (from the Avengers comic...or Data from Star Treck)....basically a "sentient" magically powered and highley sophisticated Golem. I'm not interested in "adding" extra limbs or anything, just looking for things that add general bonuses to special qualities, abilities, etc....... Any ideas/leads would be appreciated. |
| nighttree05-27-07, 11:13 AM | Wow....NOTHING :OMG! I thought there would be at least one or two.... |
| Obi-Wan Shinobi05-27-07, 11:23 AM | other than just the standard craft construct feat and the effigy master PrC, i dont ever remember reading about any feats or even any fluff, for that matter, that has to do with constructs. thats one reason why people have been clamoring for a book of constructs in the same vein as the dragons, undead, and outsiders books. they really could use SOMETHING added to em............. |
| nighttree05-28-07, 10:53 AM | Oh well....It was worth a try......:allalone: Now I wish they would come out with a construct book. Thanks for trying folks. |
| Lotus Crane05-28-07, 11:14 AM | Wait, your original post is ambiguous. Are you asking for feats for the crafter, or for the construct itself? Because normally constructs don't have feats or skill points. In either case, I suggest you read the Eberron Campaign Setting book; it has an artificer class, warforged race, and a number of feats, which may help you out with these concepts. |

Well you could try using a warforged instead of a maug, one of my more memorables warforged chars were a mix between data and vision. And theres a lot of material (feats and class) for the warfroged. |

Sorry....I guess I was not very clear.... It's the "crafter" that I'm looking for feats for. I have found a few that are pretty "specific" as far as "what kind" of construct they enhance (Effigy master has a class feature)....Improved Homunculus (Eberron I believe ??)....and a few Construct crafting feats....But I thought there would be more out there than there appears to be. I looked at the Warforged first....but it didn't really fit what I was trying to create. I found a level adjusted Maug that by taking just the first 4 levels put's me right at what I was looking for (medium sized, physically strong, and sentient). I was just hoping for a few "extra goodies".....:D |
| Fallenangel35905-28-07, 01:27 PM | as a construct builder, artificer actually does a good job, because an artificer can buff his construct in ways no one else can. Infusions nsuch Pretty much the only special I can think of is 5000gp for an additional hit die It amuses me that craft construct with 120kgp and some xp for artificer can create an 80 hit die iron wyrm golem that alone is stronger than the entire fighter class. If DM allows, add the soulfused construct template. Then you have an intelligent mechanical dragon. Whats nice, is you cast extraordinary spell aim anti magic field on that golem with permancy, and then give the golem a portable hole. Go inside the portable hole. Give the golem magic items you'd otherwise have. Ring of prot, amulet of natural armor, belt of giant strength, etc. You now have a tank stronger than fighter. |
| Rerecros05-28-07, 01:45 PM | there are some feats in Libris mortis designed for mindless undead creation, just adapt those. |
| PhaedrusXY05-28-07, 01:55 PM | Magical Artisan(PGF p41) Extraordinary Artisan Mercantile Background Apprentice (Craftsman) Rudimentary Intelligence (DR327 p73) |
| dragynson105-28-07, 05:26 PM | hmm, actually its really simple to make constructs special via the crAfter with no feats needed. use the inteligent item rules in the dmg. |
| PiccaloJr05-28-07, 08:51 PM | I've been trying to do this myself. Take a look in the Faiths and Pantheons books, Faerun campaign setting. There is a PrC called Techsmith. They are very craft/construct oriented. Also, in Complete Arcane there is a PrC and Template called Effigy Master and Effigy, respectivly. Good stuff there. You might also look at the Eberron setting, I know it's been said but I'm adding to it, and check out the feats and ideas for upgrading homonoculi. Same rules could apply to constructs. I found 2 non WotC books, one by Mongoose publishing and another off brand one. Hit up good ol' Google for those: Constructs: It's Alive! and Golemcraft 101 |
| Lyinginbedmon07-04-07, 09:22 PM | Dragon 327 includes Rudimentary Intelligence, Extra Arms, and Advanced Binding. Whilst the last one might not be of much use (Prevents a Berserk state), Extra Arms grants the construct additional slam attacks (And arms, allowing access to a number of other monstrous feats) |
