| Faithkeep03-20-07, 02:38 AM | Hi guys.:) I'm planning to make a Lawful Neutral Human Cleric of St. Cuthbert with the Strength and Destruction domains. I plan to make this guy a melee cleric who uses the smite ability and becomes super strong for a single round of full attack. I was wondering what feats would help me make this guy strong. A level 20 cleric has a total of 8 feats. I already chose the following: Power Attack Extend Spell Persistent Spell Extra Smite Persistent Spell would be for Divine Power and maybe Righteous Might and of course Power Attack is for giving extra juice to my heavy mace hits. Extra Smite would be there to give me more uses of my smite ability. What other feats should I use? Also, advice regarding other things about my character would be welcome, including the order by which I should acquire the feats. :) Anyways, for a clearer picture, here are my stats using a 32 point buy: str: 14 dex: 12 con: 14 int: 10 wis: 15 cha: 14 Thanks in advance. :D |

| Beckett03-20-07, 02:59 AM | Players Handbooks 2, Smiting Spell, raises the level by +1, allows you to do Touch spells through your weapon attack rather than by touch, Divine Metamagic it. . . Also check out Divine Justice, (to complicated to really go into), but basically your normal weapon damage is the better of what you roll, or what the enemy just hit you for. Possibly the Retaliation Domain (I think), if you can get DM to grant it to St. Cuthbert. Divine Might from Complete Warriar, if you have a good Cha. Improved Crit.? |
| JulesCARV03-20-07, 03:00 AM | Given that it's kinda hard to persist divine power without divine metamagic (persistent power) until you get into epic levels and have expanded spell capacity, I'd say divine metamagic (persistent power) is probably a good idea. |
| Faithkeep03-20-07, 04:30 AM | I see. :) to runestar: I think I'd rather fight on foot. :P :P |
| Faithkeep03-20-07, 11:12 AM | Okay, here are the feats that I got and the level I'm going to get them at. Cleric Level 1: Power Attack, Extend Spell Level 3: Persistent Spell Level 6: Divine Metamagic: Persistent Spell Level 9: Extra Turning Level 12: Divine Might (maybe) Level 15: Extra Smiting Level 18: Extra Smiting (maybe) I'm still not sure about the Divine Might or if I'm going to get one more Extra Smiting to increase my smite allowance. Any comments?:) |
| Prince Vine03-20-07, 11:18 AM | I'm a fan of Sapphire Smite from Magic of Incarnum. |
| Faithkeep03-20-07, 12:05 PM | Sapphire Smite? I'm sorry I don't seem to be familiar with it. :) |
| Lael03-20-07, 11:42 PM | You looked at fist of raziel from BoED? Great smiting class. Also their is a variant in UA that you can lose your turning to gain smite and aura of courage as per paladin. Also in a dragon magizine, their is a feat called St Cuthberts Smite, which lets you smite chaos as well as evil. |
| Faithkeep03-21-07, 04:56 AM | Doesn't the smite power from the Destruction domain give you the ability to smite anything regardless of alignment? |
| Faithkeep03-21-07, 02:11 PM | I'm thinking of maybe replacing the Divine Might and one of the Extra Smiting with Quicken Spell and Divine Metamagic: Quicken Spell. Do you guys think it's worth it? I kinda like some of my buffs to be quickened so I don't have to be using them all day (e.g. Righteous Might - I wouldn't want to be Large all day...:D) but still have them fast before the blows start to fall. Also, it's good backup if ever my buffs get dispelled. What do you think?:) |

| Faithkeep03-22-07, 04:16 AM | Yeah, that's what I was thinking. But then I'd be able to Smite only 2 times a day. But I guess that would be enough for a melee cleric anyway.:) But come to think of it... I might just get two extra Extra Turning feats instead of the Metamagic and the Divine Metamagic so I'll have more "ammo" for persisting. |
