| Aaron Highcolor05-15-07, 02:17 PM | Are there any feats that grant additional skill points per level? I know Open Mind gives an additional 5, but I'm looking for one that gives more per level. Thanks! |

Nymph's Kiss from BoED gives +1 per level, but you have to be a goody-two-shoes exalted character with a dryad best friend to get it. |

Thanks! Beyond Nymph's Kiss, the closest you'll get is Able Learner (changes the cross-class cost from 2 skill points per rank to 1 skill point per rank, but doesn't adjust maximim rank limits). It's human/changeling/doppelganger only, though. |
| penchant05-15-07, 02:26 PM | Also Able Learner is good if you are human. It makes all crossclass skill ranks cost 1 instead of 2. Qualifying for PrC's become much easier with that. |
| sark05-15-07, 02:29 PM | Is able learner human only or what about half-elf? (Don't have books to hand) |
| goawayugh05-15-07, 02:38 PM | Technicly it's human only (well, plus the others mentioned before), not half elf. A half elf would have to take Human Heritage to qualify for Able Learner. The only problem with that is that both of those feats can only be selected at 1st level, so the only way for a half elf to get Able Learner is through the use of Flaws from Unearthed Arcana (take a flaw, get a feat, can do 2 at 1st level). Unless your DM is willing to use the variant rule (sidebar on the same page as Able Learner) that says that all half-human races also have the human subtype. Then you wouldn't need Human Heritage. I don't use this variant rule. If someone wants to qualify for human only stuff, they need the Human Heritage feat. Although, I do allow Flaws As far as your original question: I can't think of anything now.....try playing a Beguiler! They usually end up with more skill pts per level than a rogue. 6 per level + high Int (Int based spellcasting). Plus their list of class skills actually has one more on it than the rogue's list does. Beguilers kick ass!!! |
| sark05-15-07, 05:42 PM | Thanks for the info. Didn't know there were flaws in this game. (I also play HackMaster which has quirks & flaws which can add nice flavour, but that's not everyones' cup-o-tea) Thanks again. |
| Daeva05-15-07, 07:39 PM | open minded in complete adventurer gives you 5 skill points to spend as normal, selectable multiple times. |

Well, the problem being is that I have an established character, converted from 2nd Ed (tweaked - was a cleric/thief, now a favored soul/rogue, works better). Well, as "luck" would have it, we found the "old deck of many things". I've been away from the group for a while (4 year!), and have fallen a little behind. So lucky me, I drew the 50k xp card. Now I get 4 "bonus" levels. Well, problem is, he only has a 10 INT, so I don't get any bonus skill points. I would take Open Mind, but it's only 5 for the feat, and then the feat is gone, and since the rest of the party is "optimized", I was hoping that there was a feat that would grant me more skill points at EACH level. Well, I guess I could just find a way to increase the INT... Thanks all! |

A couple of those and oh boy.... ;) All of the Tomes/Manuals are inherent bonuses. You can only have a max of +5 inherent bonus to any one ability score. Getting multiple copies of the same tome/manual will not work, only the highest one applies. Example: If you get a +2 tome and later get a +3 tome, you do NOT have a +5 to you Int, you only have a +3. It is like everyother bonus, same types don't stack. |

Thanks for the clarification. So, what about Wish then? Is there a limit on how much Int (or any stat) one could wish for, and would there be repercussions/negative effects like in some other systems? |

| goawayugh05-17-07, 01:27 PM | So, what about Wish then? Is there a limit on how much Int (or any stat) one could wish for, and would there be repercussions/negative effects like in some other systems? Wish essentially the same as the tomes/manuals. They are both inherent bonuses. You could cast wish 5 times in a row (paying a WHOPPING 25,000 XP) and get a +5 inherent bonus to your Int (or any other score). But since it is an inherent bonus, you could not later also get a tome for your Int too. They are both the same type of bonus. |

If this was true then you could only get one +1 from a wish since iterative castings of a spell to get a bonus to not stack. Its the same instance of being the same type of bonus. I'm not sure what the FAQ says, but I HR that a book does not stack with other books, however wish is the exception and the way to increase your inherent bonus after you have read a lesser book (instead of shelling out for a bigger book). It is a wish afterall. |
