Feats that give natural weapons too powerful? [Archive] - Wizards Community

In races of eberron there is a feat that gives a warforged a bite attack. It seems that such a feat is overpowered especially when compared to the two-weapon fighting tree.

A 1st level warforged could attack with a weapon, with his slam and bite at +0/-5/-5. With TWF it would be -2/-2.
Of course the natural attacks are more powerful since they don't even penalize your primary attacks.

Do I miss something or are natural attacks (and thus feats that grant such)much more powerful than two-weapon fighting?

Thanks for your help.

In general, natural weapons are weaker than TWF stuff.

1. Natural weapons start out at lower damage.

2. Natural weapons are harder to enchant (Compare magic weapons with Amulet of Mighty Fists)

3 Natural weapons are harder to upgrade, damage wise, and metal wise (can't trade them for an adamantine version, cold iron version, etc.)

4. Natural weapons can not easily be switched.

5. Natural weapons, are harder to take iterative attacks with.

6. Natural weapons can not handle contact poisons.

7. Less prestige classes/feats/other abilities work on Natural attacks.

----------------

They do have the following advantages:

1. Not sunderable

2. Not disarmable

3. Not stealable

Natural attacks which do not use your arms are quite desirable since they usually mean extra attacks whenever you get the full-attack option. But their damage isn't that great(low base damage+1/2str mod+greater magic fang), and you have a -5 to-hit penalty. Extra attacks are always useful, but I doubt it will break the game.:)
