Feats to improve command undead limit for turning undead? [Archive] - Wizards Community

Commanding and Destroying undead have the same basic mechanical requirements, but it is much easier to destroy undead than command them.

For instance RSoP get greater turning several times a day, allowing them to destroy multiple undead that they would normally have moderate difficulty destroying outright.

Are there any good ways to improve the HD of undead you can control? Something like "Greater Rebuking" would of course be awesome, and I feel it isn't as overpowered as it sounds, because it would still be limited by your effective turning level and most undead have a lot of HD for their CR (meaning that higher CR undead are unavailable even to high level clerics)

For instance a "Drowned" is CR 8 or 9 and has 20 HD, so it would take a 40th level cleric to command one. . . CR 9?

A 16th level cleric with the sun domain could destroy one (if lucky), a 40th level cleric (with undeath and deathbound) could control it. . .

Anyway, are there any ways to get your controlling to work better?

There are some items that increase effective cleric level (I've found enough for about +3 (without stacking)) and there are feats that increase DAMAGE, but not effective level for controlling.

Personally I think that the undead should be destroyed/controlled if you roll more damage than twice their HD (but that counts against total HD turned), instead of your level just being double their HD, with greater turning being the same as it currently is.
