Hi I am pretty new to D&D and have what might be a stupid question.

I am creating a lvl 4 Human Warlock for our D&D game and am thinking of taking Fey Power as a feat, in addition to Fey Heritage and Mortalbane

The description of Fey Power says : Your caster level and save DCs for enchantment spells and warlock invocations increase by +1.

I know that for a warlock his character lvl is equal to his caster lvl.

Can I take this to mean that at character lvl5 I will be caster lvl 6 and therefore can take a new invocation, instead of normally having to wait until I am character lvl6 and caster lvl 6?

If no.....What exactly is the benefit of taking fey power?

Caster-level is not the same as the level you cast it.

It is used to determine effects like duration, damage, range for spells and SLAs that are variable.

It is also used to determine your ability to Dispel Magic (d20+caster-level) or have your own effects dispelled (11+ caster-level.)

You also make a caster-level check to penetrate SR.

That's it.

Is this of a benefit to a warlock? Yes. First of all, Fey Power grants +1 to the DC of every invocation you know. That's not bad. In addition, that +1 stacks with things like Ability Focus or Heighten Spell-Like Ability.

The caster-level might not be as valuable to you as it could for a spell-caster. More of your durations are fixed (24 hours) and Eldritch Blast is tied to class-level not caster.

But, you will eventually face SR. This will be an issue, and every little bump to your caster-level helps. In addition, though you might not know any of the Dispel Magic invocations yourself, you may have people try to dispel you invocations.
