One of my players is making a mage and wants to use the Fiery Burst feat. That is fine with me, but she asked if the feat Ability Focus works with the Fiery Burst feat. I don't have CA to check the description of Fiery Burst of hand, so I have no idea. Any clue on this? If not, she was wondering if their is any feat to pump up the Fiery Burst feat.

Thanks.

even if it didn't I'd just house rule that it did. It's not that great of an ability to use two entire feats on. Full of flavor and fun to ALWAYS have a fire attack, but not overpowering I wouldn't think.

Reserve Feats function as (Su) abilities, so it can absolutely have the Ability Focus feat applied to it. Its kind of a weak choice though. Its, at best, a 9d6 (I think its d6s) attack. He'd probably be better off as a warlock.

Warlocks also only get 9d6 on their Eldritch Blasts. Warlocks also get that last d6 three levels after a Wizard gets 9d6 with her Fiery Burst. Sure, Warlocks get blast shapes, eldritch essences, and other invocations, but Warlocks don't get 9th level spells (except for foresight).

Warlocks are better if the player wants to be a dedicated blaster. Otherwise, not so much.

They're in Complete Mage, not Complete Arcane. As supernatural abilities, they're valid for Ability Focus.

There are also some nice supernatural-ability-enhancing feats from Tome Of Magic. Some mimic sudden metamagic feats; Empower Supernatural Ability, Enlarge Supernatural Ability, and Widen Supernatural Ability. There's also Sudden Ability Focus. Each feat can be used once a day, on any Su ability you have. Taking one of them again gives you an extra use of it.

Tome Of Magic also has a couple anti-su-ability feats. Supernatural Opportunist allows you to take attacks of opportunities against creatures when they activate their supernatural abilities. Supernatural Crusader gives you a +1 attack/damage against creatures with su abilities. Defense Against The Supernatural gives you a +1 to saves against su abilities.

All these feats were made because the real star of Tome Of Magic, the Binder, gets to choose a different suite of supernatural abilities each day. The feats still work just as well for Reserve Feats though.
