| Orenmir08-24-07, 01:29 PM | I'm building a Monk/PsyWar Grappler. There are plenty of powers the PsyWar has to boost my grapple check. Now, I'm trying to think of ways to improve my unarmed strike damage during a grapple. As a grappler, I wouldn't think of wasting a feat on Stunning Fist. But, it might be worth it to gain Fiery Fist. Then I could deal an extra 1d6 to all my unarmed strike damage for an entire round per usages of Stunning Fist. For a grappler, is this worth the 2 feat dip? I would probably also go for Extra Stunning so I could use it more often (there's another feat burn). Are there better feats I should be looking at? The PsyWar class will allow me extra feats; but then again, I might do better with some psionic feats. Other feats that I'm trying to squeeze in at low levels: Earth's Embrace Combat Manifester Practiced Manifester Improved Disarm (monk 6th - not really low level) Thanks for the help. |

Both of those will increase your unarmed strike considerably, and they stack with each other. And it's base damage, so its for all unarmed attacks |
| Sephiroth Do'Urden08-24-07, 05:33 PM | If you are a monk, you don't have to get stunning fist. |
| Kurama Youko08-24-07, 05:34 PM | i think in the book dragon magic there was a better equiventlant to fiery fist. If you have the book or happen by a book store check it out, im 90% sure it wouldn't cost as much and would grant you better gains. |
| Eerongal08-24-07, 05:43 PM | If you are a monk, you don't have to get stunning fist. he does if he took improved grapple instead at level 1, which i'm assuming he did since he said he was a grappler |
| GSonic708-24-07, 08:59 PM | If you're allowed to use Flaws, then you could take one or two to offset the dip (depending on the prereqs of the prereqs). |
| Sephiroth Do'Urden08-24-07, 09:53 PM | he does if he took improved grapple instead at level 1, which i'm assuming he did since he said he was a grappler You should by improved grapple later. The Monks stunning fist gives you more uses per day than the feat counterpart. |
| dman1123508-24-07, 11:35 PM | The feat says that a monk gets 1/monk level, it's not a monk special thing. The monk just lets them take it at an earlier level. |
| Nephlite08-24-07, 11:45 PM | The feat says that a monk gets 1/monk level, it's not a monk special thing. The monk just lets them take it at an earlier level. Yeah, if you do'nt take it you are behnd in getting for a while as the BAB requirement is huge for a Monk. |
| jaelis08-25-07, 03:13 AM | I think stunning fist is a pretty decent feat anyway, so you do get a decent benefit from both feats. (Sometimes dealing more damage is better, sometimes stunning is better.) I also agree that if you do it, the way to go is to take SF as your monk bonus and Imp Grapple as a regular feat. |
