Apparently these feats can be used for a grapple, which isn't exactly a weapon...
So how does that work, for a grapple?
for focus... which adds +1 to attack.... that means +1 on your grapple check?
For specialization, +2 damage... when you're attacking something WHILE grappling?

Or would i be better off to add these feats to my improved unarmed strike, and get the extra damage while grappling from THAT.
I have improved unarmed strike and improved grapple, and want to do the most damage possible while i grapple, so which would be better to focus these feats on?
Thanks

it says that when you grapple and do grapple damage, you do unarmed damage. that, and, you can choose to take a small penalty and get multiple attacks with a small light weapon or an unarmed strike. so i'd buff up that strike, so that it helps inside and outside the grapple.

Ya... that's what i'm going to do. I was really wondering what those feats would do for a grapple, in terms of numbers, but what you suggest seems better.
Thanks.

The Sage finally addressed this. He said WF applies to the touch attack made to start a grapple (but not grapple checks themselves), and WS applies to damage when you use a grapple check to damage your opponent (but not weapon or unarmed attacks made while grappling.)

Sauce plz? It's not in the FAQ, and I couldn't find it on the main page. As far as I know, WF (Grapple) adds to the grapple check, since that's, you know, the grappling part.

I think it's in the current Dragon, sorry. There've always been two camps, one that would apply WF to grapple checks because it makes sense, and the other that applies it to the touch attack because grapple checks aren't actually attacks and thus WF doesn't work.

The sage went with the more literal reading, fair enough.
