I have a quick question about the Leadership feat. Do the followers you gain (not the cohort) have PC class levels, such as Fighter or Barbarian, or do that have NPC class levels, like Adept or Warrior?

My apologies if this is either on the wrong forum or has been answered before, I was unable to find a search function. Thanks in advance.

In 3.0 they could have PC class levels but counted as higher level followers if they did. NPC classes were counted as whatever level they were.

In 3.5 this was changed and there is no level increase for PC classes. So you could can have followers of any class, NPC or PC.

Thanks. I wish the feat description was clearer on this; I am unlikely to convince my DM that I should be getting level 1 fighters and such, not warriors and experts. I know the little buggers are going to drop like flies anyhows, but having PC levels allows a bit more survivability to them.

It says in the DMG that followers are mostly used for scouting, carrying heavy things, and generally being servants. Be they commoners, sorcerors, or fighters, the little buggers won't drop like flies if you don't send them into battle.
